I'd enjoy either of those matches

but would heavily favor Gegard in either instance.

Yeah. I think he’d steamroll both guys, honestly.

I love me some Sexyama!

Yes, but does anyone really want to watch..

Sokoudjou throw vicious kicks for 3 minutes, then wilt quickly under his opponents strikes again….

I’m much more intrigued by seeing which Filho shows up, and if its the sane one…what the outcome of the match may be.

by Razreshat on Oct 7, 2009 12:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Agreed on Filho.

If Sokoudjou or who ever manages him was smart they would stay far far away from fighting Top competition for now like Mousasi or any top 15 to 20 LHW. He should continue fighting lower level and mid level competition for sometime Yet. Jordan Breen on his show awhile ago had great points about fighters like Sokoudjou who are thrown into the fire way to soon and becasue they get a big win keep fighting top competition and there careers are pushed way to quick. They they should still be getting cagetime and going slow and still fighting lower level opponents at this point of there career. Those 2 BIG wins over little Nog and Arona seemed to hurt Sokoudjou’s career patch now more then anything. He should not even be in the same cage with a fighter like Gegard. Not Yet atleast !

Rumored card so far:
- Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers
- Jake Shields vs. Jason “Mayhem” Miller [Strikeforce MW Title ]

- Bobby Lashley vs. Ron Waterman
- Matt Lindland vs. TBA
- Robbie Lawler vs. TBA

by Nick Thomas on Oct 7, 2009 10:43 AM EDT reply actions

So what is going to be left for their next card?

Or will they be going with Affliction model of one card per Fedor fighting cycle?

Rumored December Card:

why not Lawler vs Lindland?

they both looking for an easy fight coming off a loss?

by Kid Nate on Oct 7, 2009 11:30 AM EDT up reply actions

That’s a smart matchup. I’d also suggest that we get Tim Kennedy matched up against Jacare on the December card.

by madiq on Oct 7, 2009 11:55 AM EDT up reply actions

I thought it was Lawler vs. Jacare?
And I would love to see Tim Kennedy get a rematch against Scott Smith (he lost in his first ever professional mma match against Smith).
That leaves Frank and Lindland.
Also I thought Herschel Walker was going to be on the December card?

by John Nash on Oct 7, 2009 12:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Either Lashley vs Waterman or Werdum bouts will be moved to December, along with the other fighters that won’t fit on the card.

The only thing I regret about this card

Is that Tito Ortiz isn’t available to do commentary.

Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.

But Tito is in the UFC, how can YOU make fun of him? lol

Thats a sick card!

One nicely added touch would be

- Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers [Strikeforce Interim HW Title]- Jake Shields vs. Jason "Mayhem" Miller [Strikeforce MW Title ]
- Fabrício Werdum vs. Antônio "Bigfoot" Silva
- Gegard Mousasi vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou / Paulo Filho
- Bobby Lashley vs. Ron Waterman
- Matt Lindland vs. TBA
- Robbie Lawler vs. TBA
- Jacare vs. TBA

This way they can build up the winner Fedor having to face Overeem to see who the real champ is. Also, just in case you know…Overeem never comes back.

What’s the latest on Antonio Silva getting licensed to fight, even if it’s in Illinois?

Let it be Soko.

I don’t want to see Filho fight in the states anymore. Too much damage to his reputation has been done by it, and if he gives another lackluster performance in a drug-tested environment, it will be impossible to defend him from detractors. There’s no real upside unless he beats Mousasi, which is highly unlikely.

I think it’s worth the risk for Sokoudjou.

He hasn’t been brought along very slowly in his career and thats definitely hurt him. You could argue that a fight with Mousasi right now would just be more of the same.

But the chance to be on CBS, and if he pulls out a win… could be life changing for the guy with the number of people that would see that fight.

I had read somewhere that strikeforce was trying to get Mo Lawal as an opponent for Gegard. Too bad, that would have been more exciting.

by mburtoni on Oct 7, 2009 10:50 AM EDT via mobile reply actions

would be exciting to see but i’d rather let lawal get a little more experience first

www.tapology.com | twitter.com/tapology

by GregS123 on Oct 7, 2009 10:56 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, I’d rather it if Mo Lawal just signed to Strikeforce, and was brought along somewhat slowly, while being developed as one of the promotion’s signature stars. The man is talented and charismatic, but a fight against Mousasi would be too much too soon, and kinda counterproductive.

by madiq on Oct 7, 2009 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions

If Mousasi beats Sokoudjou, it will totally discredid the Super Hulk Tournament.

Not so much…considering that Mousasi was supposed to be in Super Hulk. Besides, Japanese casual fans don’t care too much about fights that don’t happen in Japan.

It would be like the super final of the super hulk.

Bobby Southworth is not impressed.

by Nick Thomas on Oct 7, 2009 11:26 AM EDT reply actions   1 recs

Somehow, I see an undercard matchup with Mike Whitehead in Southworth’s future…

What of Babalu? Maybe he’ll get a fight against Feijao in December; that would help get the winner in place to challenge for the LHW title in early 2010.

by madiq on Oct 7, 2009 11:57 AM EDT up reply actions

Lol, I thought they were doing Moussassi/Werdum for a moment.

I’m really hoping Diaz gets his stuff together and they make that fight with him and Hieron in Dec. WTH is wrong with him?

Thomson in SF for belt if Thomson is healthy. Not sure about who his DREAM opponent would be.

Werdum and Mousasi Have Opponents...Maybe

Werdum v. Silva is as interesting a fight there is at Heavyweight that is both outside of the UFC and does not involve the greatest fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko.

Now, you can debate all you want whether or not that’s a good thing, but for me, I’m happy with that match on the undercard of Fedor v. My Namesake

Mousasi v. Sokoudjou is only intriguing to me insofar as they were to have met in the phoney baloney Super Hulk tournament. Barring a stunning turn of events, Mousasi wins that fight handily, which makes the matchup less than compelling for me.

Mousasi v. Filho will probably be an even great slaughter by Mousasi, but it is something of a grudge match, so I’m all for that.

Heard This Rumor Recently:
Rumored SF Card:

Fedor vs Rogers
Mayhem vs Shields
King Mo vs Mousasi
Lashley vs Waterman
Coenen vs Toughill

So check this out. King Mo was supposed to fight Randleman on the Sengoku Nov 7th show. It was just announced today that King Mo won’t be his opponent, and Sengoku instead got Nedkov. Just recently asked King Mo if he was fighting on the CBS show against Mousasi, and King Mo said he “can’t confirm it”.

What would you guys think of this card?

by MMASuPreMaCy on Oct 7, 2009 3:10 PM EDT reply actions

Still not sure on Werdum, Silva, Lindland, and Jacare. If they won’t fit on this card, they will be moved to DREAM.12 or the December Strikeforce event.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Oct 7, 2009 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions

That would be a sick card for Strikeforce to debut with. I doubt King Mo ends up fighting Mousasi though. Soko will probably end up being his opponent.

As a Zuffa nuthugger I have to admit that this SF card is looking quite impresive.

Junkie says this is a non-title match, that sucks.

by Phildo on Oct 8, 2009 7:29 AM EDT reply actions

Mousasi, that is.

by Phildo on Oct 8, 2009 7:29 AM EDT up reply actions

Actually, that’s great, because Sokoudju doesn’t really deserve a title shot.
