Beast of the East: Grabowski vs Overeem in Poland

8829_1061921087730_1817053815_119698_3940189_n_mediumOne of the biggest Dutch MMA/K-1 promotions Beast of the East is holding probably the best fight show in Polish history November 14th in Gdynia. At the yesterday's press conference in Gdynia Hall, event organizers Johannes Hoffman and Filip Flaczynski announced the star-studded card which will consist of 10 MMA and 4 K-1 Rules bouts.

In the main event of the show Europe's rising heavyweight star Damian "The Polish Pitbull" Grabowski (10-0 / Lutadores Opole) will take on Alistair's older brother Rings and Pride veteran Valentijn "The Python" Overeem (26-22 / Golden Glory). If Grabowski beats Overeem watch him sign with one of the major US or Japanese promotions.

Besides the main attraction the card is full of almost all Polish top fighters not currently signed with UFC or KSW. Top ten European ranked lightheavyweight Robert Jocz (14-4 / Beast of the East) will try extend his winning streak to 12 consecutive wins against Deep & ZST fighter Kenji Nagai (5-9-2, U-File Camp). Before this bout to keep his streak alive, he has to dispatch Siyar Bahadurzada at Glory event, October 17th in Amsterdam for his 11th consecutive win.

Polish BJJ and MMA Mecca - Szczecin will designate three of their renowned representatives to fight in Gdynia. Two time ADCC vet Karol "Coco" Bedorf (5-1 / Szczecin Top Team) will square off against tough Lithuanian Deividas Banaitis (8-5 / Audra), KSW 6 tournament champion Michal "Cipao" Materla (13-3 / Szczecin Top Team) will face Dean Lister understudy Gareth Joseph (4-2 / Throwdown Gym San Diego) and KSW Eliminations 2 winner Michal "Sztanga" Fijalka (5-0 / Szczecin Top Team) will try to keep his unbeaten record against Dutch KO artist and KSW 10 tournament champion Dave Dalgliesh (30-18-2 / Beast of the East).

Also on the card local fighter Sebastian Olchawa (4-3-1 / Mighty Bulls Gdynia) will test his skills against Golden Glory fresh signee Jason Jones (12-7, Golden Glory), Polish veteran grappler Jedrzej "Wegorz" Kubski (14-8/ Gameness Team Poznan) will fight Dutch brawler Oktay Karatas (8-7-1 / Golden Glory), Sherdog's second best European prospect Hans Stringer (9-4-1 / Beast of the East) and one of the best Polish lightweights Grzegorz Tredowski (11-7-1 / Beast of the East) who will face yet to be announced opponents.

The date sucks!

I’m in Gdynia on Oct 14th. Woulda been perfect timing.

Nov 14th I think I may be busy. I am going to Manchester for some reason…

P.s. those Overeems are 2 of the biggest scariest brothers walking planet Earth.

Overeems are scarier and bigger

emelianenko’s and nog’s are classier, and therefore less likely to rape and pillage your village.

Aleks aside (Fedor would control him and apologise to the village)

Well, I believe Browning brothers are the most likely to rape a village, at least try to rape.

and the herrings.....

heath has a little known bigger brother (6’6", 300lbs), Hunter, who retired undefeated 4-0, all by stoppage.

a guy at my gym who used to corner Heath told me about the dude. apparantly in his last fight he hurt someone so bad that he just retired. i’m told he’s sorta a good ol’ boy/gentle giant that these days prefers sittin on his porch, drinkin beer with his hunting dog at his side.

Valentijn has always been a bit of an enigma. He’s submitted both Randy Couture and Babalu but then he goes and gets tapped by Igor Vovchancyn and Gilbert Yvel.

This shirt is "dry clean only", which means it's dirty.
