Five Knuckles Reports That Lashley vs Waterman May Be Moving To Strikeforce:
TNA wrestling superstar and current blue chip MMA heavyweight prospect Bobby Lashley is in late-stage negotiations with Strikeforce on a multi-fight contract, according to sources close to the promotion.
FiveKnuckles.com has also learned that the undefeated former collegiate wrestling champion will likely take on Ron Waterman in his Strikeforce debut, though negotiations are still ongoing at this juncture.
Waterman and Lashley had been scheduled to lock horns at Prize Fight Promotions' third event in Denver, CO on Oct. 3, but the fight has since been postponed, likely due to current negotiations with Strikeforce, who is said to be close to securing the fight for an upcoming event.
Strikeforce would like to book the fight for its upcoming CBS debut on Nov. 7 in order to capitalize on Lashley's vast mainstream appeal, but negotiations have crawled away and may not be completed in time to accommodate the fast approaching event - in which case the fight would likely be pushed back to late December or January.

Dang, I didn’t know this about him:
Lashely (4-0) is an intriguing high-level prospect who brings serious, Olympic-level wrestling credentials into the cage with him. An Olympic hopeful in 2002, he trained at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs until sustaining a serious knee injury while jumping out of the way of a bullet fired in a bank robbery. The injury essentially ended his Olympic dreams, and Lashley turned to the WWE shortly thereafter, eventually becoming a pro wrestling star.
Reported early stages of negotiations on an earlier post that also suggested that Antonio Silva was also in negotiations with Strikeforce.

I’m very interested to hear more about Lashley’s “vast mainstream appeal”

He’s no Brock of course but the guy has a lot of fans and has been making more with TNA. I really hope Strikeforce gets this deal done.

Sorry dude, I don’t really get how your site works, but I’m not going to be taking it as gospel.
Google trends says he’s less popular than Fedor.
Lashley has been drawing some interest on mma sites, but he is not that big outside of the mma world. He was cut by the WWE, and no one pays attention to TNA.
The anti-Zuffa brigade is in love with him right now because they’re hoping he can do what Brock did for someone like Strikeforce, but he’s not anywhere near as popular as brock now, and he never has been.

not gospel… i’ll be the first to admit the numbers aren’t perfect. but you asked for some numbers right? well, this is what we’ve got ;)
also i never agreed or disagreed with the “vast mainstream” comment.

I didn’t ask for numbers, I asked for info about his vast mainstream appeal, which you admit you have nothing for.

Not sure I would consider people who visit MMA websites to vote for their favorite fighters to be “mainstream”.
Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.

haha neither would i. i didn’t say anything about mainstream, just showing the information i’ve got. also, these numbers aren’t from fan votes.
