Marius Zaromskis Signs With Strikeforce
The new head kick KO king of MMA is heading to America's shores:
An emerging superstar at 170 pounds, the 29-year-old Lithuanian could make his promotional debut on Dec. 19 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. Zaromskis will still compete inside the Japan-based Dream organization, which has formed an alliance with Strikeforce.
Having supplanted Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic as the man with the sport’s most-feared feet, Zaromskis last competed at Dream 12 on Oct. 25, when he leveled Korean Myeon Ho Bae with a first-round head kick in a non-title affair. He captured the Dream welterweight crown in July, as he stopped Affliction veteran Jason High and respected Japanese standout Hayato "Mach" Sakurai on the same night. Both were victimized by Zaromskis head kicks.
Spawned by the London Shootfighters camp, Zaromskis joins a stable of Strikeforce welterweights that includes former EliteXC champion Jake Shields, UFC veteran Nick Diaz and one-time International Fight League titleholder Jay Hieron.
Whether or not Strikeforce will be able to draw out the sort of performances Zaromskis has turned in in his last three fights is impossible to know, but it certainly doesn't hurt to try. So while it remains to be seen what Strikeforce can do with a promising welterweight talent in a struggling Strikeforce division, one is nevertheless encouraged to see the California-based organization bolster its roster through it's partnership with DREAM. More, please.

Fighter of the Year!
Even though no one knows who he is, I think this is a fairly big deal for Strikeforce.
I specializes in grammar fail.
Plenty of great hardcore match-ups possible, be interesting to see how he stacks up physically against some of the US guys who cut a lot of weight.
Slightly irrelevant but the only man to have truly KTFO of Marius, Che Mills, is fighting Jimmy Wallhead tomorrow in what is generally seen as a “Winner goes to the UFC” match.
He's beat Zaromskis twice
I’ve got him beating Wallhead too.

Zaromskis vs Hieron or Diaz would be great fights for him, and they are natural progressions for him as well. While Jason High is a good wrestler, I wonder how Zaromskis would do against the wrestlers at Welterweight in the UFC.
Good point
But then the question would be how Zaromskis would fare against the wrestlers at Lightweight in the UFC.
His takedown defense is SOLID

Seriously
And people are somehow outraged that DREAM wants to put on an Overeem/Fedor fight.

Fighters from Dream signing with Strikeforce is not only mutually beneficial but also something they’ve probably agreed on. Look at this way:
Imagine that Dream has 20 fighters signed to contracts that can be considered stars. Two ways they can keep these fighters from signing with a competitor (the UFC); pay them more (maybe $125,000 compared to the $100,000 the UFC is offering), or give them more fights (4 fights a year at $100,000 each is better than 3 fights at $100,000). So, right of the bat, they save $25,000 a fight if they give the fighters the choose the second option.
But that creates another problem. Say Dream needs to hold 6 events a year, and in these events they have calculated that they must have 10 stars to draw the largest audience. Well that’s 60 spots they will need to fill per year. Unfortunately they need 80 spots (20 fighters x 4 fights each), meaning they are 20 spots short. They can do 1 of two things: add more fights, but these limits their profits since extra starts at these point don’t generate anymore interest; or let their fighters fight elsewhere. The second option is what they are going with.
Confused...
What I’m referring to is all of these DREAM fighters going to Strikeforce, when will Strikeforce fighters goto DREAM? All I see is DREAM signing more M-1 fighters:
Karl Amoussou
Christian "Tonton" M’Pumbu
Thanks for the info, but it isn’t what I was talking about.
I think that might have more to do with the fact that Strikeforce desperately needs fighters while Dream may be needing to, if not unload, at least have them fight less for now. I’m going to wait a few months and see if the trend continues towards Dream. If that’s the case, then I’ll start to think it ’s one-way street partnership.
This is a great pick up for Strikeforce. Zaromskis vs Hieron for the title would be one hell of a fight. Strikeforce should push towards signing Dan Hornbuckle as he is another WW outside the UFC who is looking great as of late. A fight between Dan Hornbuckle and Nick Diaz would also be great.
Really?
Diaz and Hieron are the only two names that make sense, I would say Shields but he wants to be a Middleweight for now. They should continue to build Woodley and Rockhold. Taylor needs to build more steam, he just lost to Hieron.
SF champs
Light weight-Eddie Alvarez? maybe?
WW- Marius
MW-Shields (he should move up)
LW- Mousasi
HW- Fedor
Wow strikeforce really is building its brand.. now we just needs some contenders.
