Brett Rogers gets advice from Josh Barnett in preparation for Fedor Emelianenko:

"As part of his training, Rogers went to California for a week to train with various partners, including Barnett, whose advice focused on patience."

''Keep moving,'' Barnett told him. ''Never, never stay still. Keep moving, and you'll always find some way, some pocket, to get out of a bad situation. Especially when it comes to a ground situation.''

This is like taking basball advice from Barry Bonds

First our pleasures die - and then Our hopes, and then our fears - and when These are dead, the debt is due, Dust claims dust - and we die too.

Not such a bad idea actually

Both guys were/are extremely successful at their own sports, but then again they both had a bit of outside help to get them to the top.

And as long as you don’t let them stick you with a needle, they should be able to give good advice on how to be successful in the sport.

I’d let Barry give me some batting tips/

Never said they wouldn’t be helpful ^^ but certainly there are more logical choices out there to get help from, I’m sure if i was trying to get out my name out there it wouldn’t be from training with a guy who has failed a drug test 3 times.

Guess it wont make a difference if he stays away from the needles, but who knows what happens be hide those doors.

You know that Barry was one of the greatest hitters of all time right? Like even without hgh he’s still one of the greats.

Baaad comparison.

How so? Both are some of the best at each of their respected sports and when they retire they both will be more so known for the drugs they used over their skills. Seems fitting to me.

it's a good comparison,

BUT, the point isn’t.. Why can’t bonds give batting advice to people who doesn’t have as much experience as he is?

by Anton Tabuena on Oct 31, 2009 11:41 AM EDT up reply actions

Never said he shouldn’t nor wouldn’t, but it’s like why go to Bonds when Pujols is right there?

And who, pray tell, is the Pujols in your tortured analogy?

Hrm I’m not really sure, plenty of top level fighters and coaches out there who are not associated with steroids, so you can take a pick from any number of them.

Yeah you are totally right, there’s just dozens of top heavyweights who have been actively training to fight Fedor recently.

Need to put more of the emphasize on the always.

“Black guy ALWAYS dies first”

Advice coming from someone who wants a money match up with the guy you are about to fight should probably be taken with a grain of salt…

A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.

I thought...

Barnett and Fedor were friends? Not that I think it’s a big deal, but I don’t go around giving my friends enemies advice…

by CSKit on Oct 31, 2009 11:17 PM EDT reply actions

So basically he should stick and move against a faster opponent with better cardio. Great advice.
