Jay Hieron talks Strikeforce frustration by Nick Diaz's tactics:
"Diaz is f*cking around. I don't know what the kid's doing. He's trying to box and all of that. That's the fight outside of the UFC that makes the most sense for a world title fight."

Hieron is between a rock and a hard place here
since he signed with the EA Video game he’s on Dana White’s shit list — even though he cut the deal before Dana White declared war on EA.
My advice to Jay is to ride things out with Strikeforce and put pressure on them to strip Diaz of the belt so that Jay has a chance to fight for it.

so that EA stuff still stands? I mean can he make exceptions even though he declared war after?

I don’t believe that EA shit for one second DAns went against it all ready. He wanted gegard Mousasi and he is in the game same with Fedor. And are you telling if King Mo turns out to be the fighter most think he will be a future top 10 LHW Dana won’t go after him eather ? come on now

It has already been revealed the Joe Silva did not pursue Mousasi because he signed with EA.
Heiron publicly stated that he could not sign with the UFC because of the EA deal:
“I couldn’t turn down an opportunity to fight for a title shot,” Hieron told FanHouse. “I had other offers on the table and with the UFC. I just signed a video game deal that I was obligated to [and] I couldn’t get out of it. … UFC stepped up the offer for me. It was a great offer, but again, I signed a deal with EA Sports. I was definitely surprised and I was ready to go back to the UFC. I got a great opportunity with Strikeforce, though, and I’m excited to fight for a title.”
Most of the EA deals are anywhere from one year to four so many fighters will have the option of not re-signing.

it was also publicly stated that gergard’s manager claimed the ufc had made a lesser offer tor gegard than what SF was offering, when in fact the ufc had not offered him a deal at all. kinda sound’s like someone is lying and that should be easy for fans to figure out who.

This is Joe Silva talking to Carmichael Dave:
When I approached him regarding Mousasi, Silva elaborated.
"Gegard called me about a week ago. He asked if it was true that the UFC offered 40/40 (40k to show, 40k bonus to win), Silva said. "I told him no, because we never actually made an offer."
Wait, what?
"When Affliction folded, we obviously looked at a lot of their talent available. Mousasi was interesting, but he had also just signed a deal to appear in the EA Sports video game," Silva stated. "We had gotten word from above to stay away from anyone involved in the EA game process.
So the 40/40 figure was obviously erroneous, right?
"Not only did we not make an offer, but we would’ve assumed his Affliction contract and its terms. So whatever Affliction was paying him, that’s what we would’ve honored, and it was considerably more than 40/40," Silva continued.
Several sources say Mousasi was in the neighborhood of $125,000 per fight plus a smaller bonus tied in as well.
"So not only did we not offer 40/40, but HAD we made an offer it would’ve been more than that, and that’s what I explained to Gegard."
Obviously this wasn’t a closed subject back in Camp Mousasi, as a few days later, M-1’s Apy Echteld called Silva to clarify events. What resulted though, was even more ambiguity, according to Silva.
"Apy called me about a week later, wanting to clarify things. He said that there was some miscommunication between his fighter and management. The tone of the call was very polite," Silva explained.
But when Silva inquired as to how all of this started, that’s when things got a little murky.
"Apy told me that he had a UFC source tell him that we were going to offer 40/40, and it was relayed to Mousasi. I asked Apy who the source was, and he declined to tell me. I explained that we never offered any sort of deal, and things sort of ended there," Silva continued.
As to reports that Silva was on the phone with all parties during much of the negotiations, he quickly shot those down.
"I’ve never been on the phone with Gegard and his management simultaneously. In fact, the only time I’ve been on the phone with Gegard during all of this was when he called me a week ago."

^is this a rebuttle? when the ufc was 1rst coming out with “undisputed”, fighters signing with ea sports WAS a relevant issue. NOW it is not. they have and will continue to work with and sign fighters, regardless of their video game status, as long as they are worth it. that’s the point i am trying to make. to say that zuffa won’t sign a fighter b/c they are in ea’s mma video game is hypocrisy, b/c they have already done it.

These comments are from a couple of months ago.
Why did I post them? Because you questioned what happened in regards to GM.
It is worth noting that GM’s manager NEVER disputed what Joe Silva said.
As I have said, most of the EA contracts are from one year to four years, with many other two years long.
The UFC will have chances to pick up fighters as those deals expire.
And if you think this won’t be an issue as the release date of the EA game comes, you are nuts.
Couture signed prior to returning and part of his new UFC contract deals with that.
Frank Trigg is rumored to have signed, but that has never been confirmed.
Kimbo is signed to another fighting game, but not EA.
by Lynchman on Oct 4, 2009 2:21 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
frank trigg is confirmed on wikipedia as being in the EA mma game. kimbo has done commercials and was a spokesperson for EA’S FACEBREAKER. by the time the EA game comes out, the ufc probably will have fighters signed that are on that game. that ship has sailed. which fighters have 1 year contracts, and which ones have 4 years? do you know? if not, it’s a moot point. SF could be out of business in a year or so. that’s a pretty big difference in length of time. if the ufc could get gegard or fedor right now, they would regardless of them being in the EA game. undisputed has already taken off, and there is nothing they can do about fighters that are signed to EA. does EA even have a release date?. honestly, i think you’re living in the past and holding some sort of grudge. mma fighters being on dana’s shit list b/c they are with EA IS OVER!. i won’t leave out the slight possibility that i could be wrong, but we are just going to have to wait and see. by then all this stuff people are saying will be forgotten. fans such as myself who think the notion is overated wont care by then, and fans such as yourself who see it as a big deal, won’t bring it up anymore. people who are wrong tend to do that.,pretend it never happened.

heiron just stated that he turned down an offer from the ufc for the same money as SF, so i don’t see hoe he’s on dana’s “shit list” as KID NATE points out. then again i have a hard time feeling sympathy for heiron if he could have signed wtih the ufc, b/c the one thing you don’t have too worry with them is actually fighting. if the schecule a fighter to fight, they fight. waht a concept! heiron riding it out would work for a fighter who could actually afford to ride it out
i don’t believe that the EA signing is as relevant as some of the dana detractors would love to suggest.. they have re-signed randy and tito and i’m sure they would take gegard, diaz and even fedor if he drops the co-promotion clause.

Jay could not sign because of the EA contract. He states he had other offers out there AND with the UFC. He also made it clear that the EA deal prevented him from going to the UFC.

i read everything he’s said as that he chose SF over the UFC because of the title shot.
by Phildo on Oct 3, 2009 7:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Then why point out that he was stuck in the EA deal and could not get out?
by Lynchman on Oct 3, 2009 7:06 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
why point out the title shot if the UFC didn’t make an offer?
Was he going to to fight for King of the Cage or Adrenaline?
“UFC stepped up the offer for me. It was a great offer,” he words it very poorly, but why would the UFC even make an offer if the EA game was such an issue?
by Phildo on Oct 3, 2009 7:15 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He was made an offer by the UFC, but he could not get out of his EA deal. I remember reading that he approached EA to be released, but they would not.
You are forgetting about Dream and WVR.
by Lynchman on Oct 3, 2009 9:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
why didn’t he mention them?
He specifically mentions the UFC and says he chose the title shot, that’s the shitty part in this whole situation. The reason he made the choice he did never happened, and now is in real danger of happening on a good card because Showtime doesn’t trust Diaz.

it’s tough because Diaz really screwed him over.
The EA thing might not have been an issue, but the EA thing plus Heiron choosing to fight for SF when Affliction folded might add up to trouble.
by Phildo on Oct 3, 2009 5:29 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
just to add
frank trigg and kimbo slice are also signed to EA sports as well and the ufc still signed them, so i don’t see it as that as a big of an issue as what some fans, writers and fighters make it out to be, at least not anymore. when it 1rst started, it was. dana got all fired up and was threatening to boycott fighters who signed with them, but now that the videogame is set and has taken off, i don’t see it being an issue at all. he will sign heiron, shields, gegard, nick diaz and fedor if given the chance. :)

Yet they passed on Heiron and Gegard already.
There was quite the hoopla about GM. His manager told him the UFC lowballed him, only to have Joe Silva tell him no offer was made due to the EA deal.
by Lynchman on Oct 3, 2009 9:28 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
They didn’t pass on Mousasi, he already had a deal with SF. No one from the UFC has ever come out and specifically said, “i didn’t offer x a contract because of EA.”
The threat isn’t totally real. Randy is in the MMA game and Red Alert. Frank Trigg is in the EA Game, Kimbo is in facebreaker, all these people have UFC contracts.
