Urijah Faber Set to Return Against Raphael Assuncao on WEC 46:

"Faber (22-3) would return at WEC 46 on Jan. 10 to face fellow featherweight contender Raphael Assuncao (14-1). They have verbally agreed to fight when the promotion returns to Faber’s backyard of Sacramento, Calif., at the ARCO Arena."

So whats the deal with these PMMAL ads?

Maybe I’m cynical, but a company that is using internet advertising to sell pro sport franchises is probably some kind of scam.

MMASupremacy did a fanshot on them yesterday...

they’re just trying to do small regional fight teams. it looks legit…just don’t think of them as a big deal…just a fancy regional idea

Assuncao is a stud

But don’t sell Faber short because of his consecutive losses to Brown; they’re head and shoulders above the division.

I'm not selling him short

I just like what Assuncao brings to the table. I think it will be a great fight and I’m looking forward to it more than anything they have coming up right now. Barely ahead of Aldo/Brown

Care to make a case, then?

With Faber being the better striker and better wrestler and never having succumbed to a submission and all..

Well..

Faber tends to get too unorthodox with his strikes, Assuncao isn’t going to be easy to KO, IMO, and if it does get to the ground Assucao has an advantage there. Rafael has never been finished. I don’t think that Assuncao is a poor striker and I think he’ll be the stronger of the too. Faber also leaves a lot of openings to get hit. If Jens had any power left he could have hurt Faber in their first match.

I’m not saying its a slam dunk for Assuncao either. I think its a good matchup. If Faber keeps it standing and doesn’t go for some flying judo elbow or spinning backfist crane kick and keeps it technical he could win a decision.

I stopped reading when you said Raphael is the better striker

No offense..

Funny

I never said that. Try reading it again.

Yeah, hilarious

I don’t think that Assuncao is a poor striker and I think he’ll be the stronger of the too

It’s “two” and the sentence suggests that he’ll be the stronger striker. Though now it seems you’re saying that by the time they fight he’ll somehow have grown more physically strong than Faber.

Either way… Thanks for playing.

He’s 5’6". He’s not head and shoulders above anyone.

Faber will win for sure.

the only time he gets beat is when he is fighting a better wrestler then him, the biggest advantage Faber has over anyone that he fought (not counting Brown) is his wrestling, he decides where the fight takes place. and his boxing is good too. so IMO Faber will deff. win.

Surprised to see that

I thought I had read Yahya had broken something at ADCC. I guess that was false or he is a fast healer.
