sometimes I wonder

If Bobby Lashley matters to anyone. He doesn’t seem very popular with pro wrestling fans and he’s not that good at MMA. Will he be a draw for Strikeforce?

He certainly has the physical skills and appears to have a good attitude, but the press coverage is clearly based on who he is and not on what he has done.

I don’t know that he is currently a draw, but he will likely get Strikeforce a little more press coverage.

He wasn’t as popular as Brock in pro wrestling, that’s why it never worked there.

he has skills, and he looks like he can do something in mma, but I think he may be getting rushed into things. He’s not going to generate the attention that Brock does.

The same people that thought Affliction would be the next Pride and make a ton of money just because it had big names think that Lashley can be Brock for Strikeforce and do big numbers. They just fail to realize that Lashley is not Brock. He doesn’t have the amateur wrestling credentials, he doesn’t have the pro wrestling credentials/drawing power, and he doesn’t have the MMA skills that Brock has.

Can he be something in MMA? Yes. Is he right now? no, and I think he’s just getting a ton of press because of people saying, “he did college wrestling then wwe, then mma, he must be the next brock” when it’s not even close to being the case.

He actually will be. I didn’t think at first, but he has been gaining more and more fans. He will do big things, specially because every time someone talks about him, Brock gets brought up.

Seems like a real nice guy

My question is, if he was on this seasons Ultimate Fighter, how would he have done? Bit of MMA experience, wrestling background, good attitude and decent cardio, I think he would have done really well against anyone on the show, maybe could hold his own with Roy. Fact or fiction?

time will tell

hard to say since Lashley hasn’t been tested at all. I presume his cardio would be much better than the NFL guys and his wrestling would let him hang with most of the cast.

I can't see anyway that his cardio would be worse

But you’re right, he hasn’t been tested. I think the way he’s going about his development as a fighter is smart. I think he would have been a good fit for TUF but would have been overshadowed by Kimbo, like everyone else.

Competition wise, I think TUF would have been a good choice for him, but I don’t think it made sense financially. The only way TUF would push him up very high in the UFC pecking order would be if he beat both Kimbo and Roy in the show, and I’m not sure he’s good enough to beat Nelson.

he could probably outlast a bunch of people in that house, but I don’t think he would win, and he can probably make more headlining smaller shows than being one of the losers from this season of TUF.

Agreed. Also when you factor in the money he would have lost from not doing the pro-wrestling thing for two months, he would def. be losing money. So far from the fights I’ve seen on the show, Roy is the only one who, I think, would have had a distinct advantage over him. However, I am expecting Marcus Jones to put in a big performance next week.

No one on TUF is good enough to beat Nelson, hence why he is the favorite, or, why he shouldn’t be on TUF in the first place.

Seems

Very knowledgeable, very likeable, well spoken, has skills…I want to see him face some stiffer competition

Exactly why he will win fans over.
