Vale Tudo Japan '09 Weigh-in Results
Participants for Sustain's Vale Tudo Japan '09 tipped the scales at Tokyo's Garden Palace Hotel today, and all fighters were on weight for tomorrow's festivities at JCB Hall.
Of the main carders, only "Pequeno" Nogueira seemed to have trouble shedding pounds. The ex-lightweight ace was absent from the pre-fight press conference and interview session, and had to fully disrobe on the scale to make the 65kg limit for his non-title bout with current champ Takeshi Inoue.
Stay tuned to Bloody Elbow for full VTJ '09 coverage; we'll have live results beginning at 5AM ET Friday morning.

I wonder what Detroit tastes like and how similar the taste is to Stockton.

What? What? What!?
Gomi’s final Japanese bout! Man that sucks, so does that mean he is signing with StrikeForce or the UFC for sure after this? Win or lose?
for all intents and purposes, just consider all my posts as works of satire.

I'm thinking...
Takanori Gomi’s last fight in Japan is very similar to Tito Ortiz never fighting in the UFC again…

Im aware of what Shooto rules are but what are these Vale Tudo Japan rules?

Basically like normal Shooto rules, but allowing for stomps and knees to the head of a downed opponent. It also includes the round structure (first 5×5′s ever in Shooto, I’m pretty sure) and the smaller gloves they’ll be using.

Either 3 5 minute or 5 5 minute rounds.
Knees and stomps to the head of a grounded opponent are legal, but no soccer kicks.
VTJ 2009 will be using smaller gloves (4oz) compared to their norm (8 oz).
