Need help from BE bettors

So I've been bitten by the MMA betting bug (say that three times fast) and wanted to ask the BloodyElbow betting community for help, namely in finding the right website for me.

Pokerbetting_medium

Here's my situation: I live in Portugal (the sport has next to no steam here) so I can only bet MMA online. My only betting (MMA and other sports) has been on Bwin (which is the most popular betting site in Europe if I'm not mistaken).

I really like the site and their service/odds/etc are very good. The problem is they don't have the most extensive offereing of MMA bets in the world (they had 4 fights to bet on for UFC 104, 3 of them being only available a week before the event) and they don't allow parlays for MMA. This is my biggest issue. Because i could only make single bets, my UFC 104 winnings were 22$ for 3 sepperate fights instead of 75$ for a 3 fight parlay.

I also found Pinnacle Sports but they too do not have the option to parlay MMA bets.

So I'm asking for your help. What website do you use/suggest? Mind you I'm looking for a site that will facilitate deposits and withdrawals (being that for me it will mean international transactions) and you think provides a good service (and odds, etc.) overall. Thanks in advance!

i use betus

i’ve used betus in the past, they allow parlay’s on fights, and usually have odds on almost every fight about a couple weeks in advance.

BetUS as improved apparently, but they’re still a C- rated book on SportsBookReview.com. The three sites I listed below are A+, A+, and A- in that order. There’s no reason not to use one of those sites.

Parlays are overrated.

You have access to Pinnacle, use it.

Otherwise, some combo of 5dimes, Bookmaker (BetCRIS to you probably), and Bodog are good.

i had issues with bodog

i am a bank of america customer, (so if you are not a BofA member this probably shouldn’t apply to you) but if so, every time i would try and load my account, my bank would block all my transactions. thus preventing me from every being able to use their services. from what i herd from my friend who refereed me to Bodog, this is not a coincidence. he had herd of trouble with BofA & Bodog on other occasions.

Americans don’t have access to Pinnacle? I’m Canadian, I was looking for another book because of this parlay issue and Sports Interaction charges heavy juice. Does 5dimes solve this problem? Is it good for any other sports (apparently it is for baseball but the regular season is done).

I would have to disagree that parlays are overrated for a few reasons:

- You can win more money. At UFC 103 I bet on two fights – Dos Santos (pounded that one) and Belfort (the rest) but could only make straight bets on Pinnacle.

- You can minimize the money you put at risk betting on favourites. Especially useful if you’re betting on heavy favourites. At UFC 102 I bet on Marquardt and Couture and a split left me down about 20% of what I had wagered. If I had parlayed both to win for the same payout, I would have lost slightly more in a split, but greatly reduced the losses if both bets went bad. How would you like to have taken Cerrone/Fabiano both straight up? A parlay would have made the loss a little more palatable.

- I’ve learned that putting underdogs in parlays is generally a poor idea. Supposing you were going to parlay Rothwell/Sonnen/Bader for $100 paying $1350 (+250, -350, +200) – going into the Rothwell fight you’d have the equivalent of a wager on him for $450, which you probably wouldn’t do if you actually had that money in hand. I’ve been burned by this a few times, which is why it makes more sense to parlay favourites – even if the odds are discounted you have a better chance of returning the money to your account than losing it all.

- You can earn a little extra money if you throw Anderson Silva to win on top of any bet.

Yes, Americans don’t have access to Pinny. But the OP is from Portugal.

The rest of your post is novice gambling talk, sorry.

I don’t see how there’s anything wrong with parlays if the price is agreeable.

On the WS game 1, Lee is +158 and Sabathia is -166. Their parlay odds are +157 and -167. That would dissuade you from including one of them in a parlay?

Check out http://www.mmabettingblog.com/, they give a comparison of all the major betting sites.

You want several things from your bookmaker:
1. You want odds that are posted well in advance of the event. Odds posted well before the event can be vastly different from the final odds immediately before the event starts. If you know what you’re doing this can give you a significant advantage over the bookmaker.
2. You want odds that vary over time. Bookmakers can sometimes post odds that are fixed in time, that are just stupid to bet on i.e. very safe for the bookmaker. Varying odds reflect the bookmaker trying to influence the distribution of money bet by the public over time, and the bookmaker converges to a line that best reflects the true line for the fight and the market for line. This can lead to a odds that significantly improve over time, or ones that get worse. But you can use sites like www.bestfightodds.com to predict where the line is going, if it is going to get worse or better as a guide to whether to wait for a line to get better or bet straight away. But you want a bookmaker that offers the most competitive odds in the market, and bookmakers that offer static odds generally offer the worst odds available.
3. Range of bets to make. You want a bookmaker that offers the most bets possible. Pinnacle for example usually only lets you bet on the most popular fightd on the card and only post their odds fairly close to the event. Sportsbook.com offer some of the widest range of bets available You can bet on Dream, K1, UFC, Strikeforce, Grappling events and other special events. You can bet on outcomes of fights e.g. KO, TKO, Submission, fight of the night bonuses etc. Pinnacle i believe only lets you bet on the outcome of a fight e.g. a win for a fighter, they also only do the most popular events e.g. UFC/Strikeforce. It can be very frustrating wanting to bet on something that just isn’t available at your bookmaker. Parlays can also be fun, so you want to pick a bookmaker that offers them.
4. Reputable bookmaker. Don’t go withjust anyone. You store your money with them in an account and you have to trust their integrity. MMAbetting blog gives a good review of the main bookmakers and it’s worth a read. There are all sorts of hidden charges in some bookmakers, there are minimum deposits, withdrawl fees, charges on the frequency of withdrawl, fees for inncactive accounts etc. There are also attractive promotions that bookmakers offer e.g. fancy sign up offers like 10% of your original deposit added to your acount. But beware the sign up offer can have conditions attached. At sportsbook.com if you try and withdraw money won through a promotional offer they can void all of these winnings. You often have to meet a basic set of betting conditions first before this money becomes yours. Read through their terms and conditions first to fully understand all their charges, and how expensive it can be to really get hold of your money.
5. You also want to be able to lineshop. Bookmakers compete against each other to try and campture the market (for those that have varying odds), and so post decent lines to bet on. They consistently try and beat each other (and also bet on each others sites in order to influence betting i believe) and just shopping around can give you a much better line. But this means you must be a member of multiple sites, which is very advisable.

Favourites often get worse over time and sites that post lines well in advance are good to bet on. Sites like www.bookmaker.com and www.sportsbook.com are good for betting well in advance. These two sites also offer a wide range of events to bet on and outcomes of fights etc (only close to the event for outcome types though). Bookmaker.com say they are the source of the betting line, they aren’t actually but they often post their line before anyone else. Most bookmakers usually wait until bookmaker.com’s or sportsbook.com’s line is up first before they post their own.

For the best odds in the run up to an event Pinnacle is usually the best. They often try and compete fiercely with their competition and can post very decent lines close to an event. For lines that improve steadily over time it’s often just safe to wait close to the event and see what Pinnacle is offering. But Pinnacle is only really good for this, they don’t offer odds well in advance and don’t offer a good variety of bets.

If i were you I would go with www.bookmaker.com, www.sportsbook.com and www.pinnaclesports.com. But it is so important to read all their terms and conditions to see exactly what you are getting yourself in for and exactly the fees they will charge you and what their rules are. Sportsbook.com has strict rules on paying out and require proof of your identification and address, www.bookmaker.com and www.pinnaclesports.com don’t have such strict rules on paying out, but make sure you read them first.

Also you may want to set up an e-wallet to handle your trasactions. You could give your credit card details to every site or just use a single e-wallet site to manage your money for you. www.Moneybookers.com is a good e-wallet and you can set up an account there and any bookmaker you use you can just transfer your funds from this account to them without having to give them your credit card information. Moneybookers.com offer extremely good security with their accounts so it can be a little cumbersome transferring money at times, especially if you want it done quickly but you can rest assured that your money is safe there. If you want an e-wallet make sure you read everything you are getting yourself in for, all their charges and how their service works etc. But e-wallets usually have less fees associated with them at bookmakers, and their withdrawl times are faster and the withdrawl limits are more favourable as well…

Finally just read www.mmabettingblog.com to give you a review of the major bookmakers and basic betting info. Also remember if you bet with foreign bookmakers your money will be stored in their currency, and withdrawing money will be subject to exchange rates. They may say you have X euros in your account when you put it in, but if you withdraw that X euros that they say is in your account a year from now, you will get a different amount back depending on the exchange rate when withdrawing.

Also check out www.bestfightodds.com to give you an idea of the bookmakers that post lines early and how often they change their odds over time/ how competitive they are etc.

Don’t use Sportsbook or BETus in my opinion. Low ratings for one, but from personal experience… just shit.
