i have always rooted against ortiz, but find it hard to do when my new least favorite fighter, griffin, will be facing off against him. wont know until fight time, but i’m with 1waytiket, if griffin storms off after another loss, i will leave the room everytime griffin fights after that.

Why would you leave the room if Forrest storms off after another loss? and quite frankly why would you even care if he did? Every person reacts differently to a loss and it shouldn’t matter to fans what he does… Unless of course he takes off in Ford F-350 and get’s in a hit and run.

The fact that people really care that Forrest ran out of the octagon amazes me.

The image was powerful & rare. While many fighters leave the cage after a loss, the camera rarely shows it. So when we saw Forrest do it, it went down very badly.

i was there
You are right, seeing it live was surreal because Forrest looked like he was fighting in slow motion compared to Silva. It was a humiliating defeat for him on a lot of levels. The crowd booed Silva, went nuts for Forrest and a minute later, his fortunes were reversed. It also seemed like he gave up in the fight instead of getting TKO’d- verbal submission due to embarrassment and frustration.

that just about explains it.

I also still give my brother a hard time about storming off after I struck him out. I don’t see what the big deal is. Yes I hate him more because he ran away crying after a loss. Not something men do, at least thats not what was taught. Its not good sportsmanship. You have to be a good winner and a good loser.

It's really hard to quantify
It’s just something about taking your licks like a man. Sure, you got trucked, but either you have the balls to stand there and face it or not. There’s a huge difference in embarrassment and shame, but I’d much rather have the former than the latter.

It something I have always hated. Sure he is more then happy to grab the mic after a win. No one likes losing, period. Its something you learn to deal with. And not only did he run away crying from the cage, but he shirked his duties to attend the post fight conf. and he has acted like a major ass since regarding the whole situation. Even my six year old little brother would say he was sorry and that he was wrong when he threw the whiffle ball and bat over the fence and ran home.

Still, Rampage didn’t lose this many fans when he sideswiped a pregnant lady and got sent to the nut house.

Different issue. And I think he did lose fans. It might be only a mater of time before joins a cult and tries to catch a ride on a comet. On the other hand he could be the best in the world. I don’t think anyone argues him to win “Most stable fighter on the planet.”

Who wouldn’t have a complete mental breakdown after getting your ass beat down by Anderson Silva? Not many, that’s for sure.

This is the thing. People talk about it like it was a regular loss. This was not a regular loss. This is a former champion receiving the most one sided loss this side of Chris Leben from a guy in a lighter weight class. This wasn’t like his Rashad loss, or even like the Jardine loss. This was much much worse. I would have had tremendous respect for him if he gave an interview right after that, but I haven’t lost any respect for him because he didn’t. That fight was really bizarre. Anderson didn’t even really give an interview after winning.

szucconi – “Not something men do” ?
honestly dude is Forrest a woman or a boy ? do you really think you have more balls than Forrest or do you know for sure how you would react to that specific scenario? I know , this is the internet and you can say you’re John fucking Wayne for all I know , but your post just sounds ridiculous Im sorry.
I don’t really care if people love or hate Forrest , but when I read criticism over his manhood , from us internet posters , it’s just ridiculous.
Ok whatever , Forrest didn’t act “like a man” , us tough guys know best . Brother please.

I am not a fighter, but I an fucking wrong all the time. I own up to it. Its a pet peeve of mine, thats all. I am sure he doesn’t give a fuck if I hate him a little more. He acted like a baby and that I don’t respect. I respect Forrest for meny of his other qualities, but sportsmanship is not one of them.

Yep thats right you’re not a fighter (and neither am I ) so giving examples from your own life is pretty damn irrelevant. I’m not trying to disrespect you , I don’t know you , but neither of us knows Forrest or what it’s like to be a fighter , to train so hard for 3-4 months only to be crushed in 3 minutes , with millions of people watching. I know , it happened to other fighters (Sylvia , Arlovski ) but some people are more emotional than others. Forrest didn’t flip the fans or say anything disrespectful , he just ran away . What , your evening wouldn’t be complete without him watching the big screen after the fight , watching himself getting ktfoed and saying “umm yeah .. don’t know what happened , got knocked out . I’ll umm…go back home and re-evaluate . I’d like to thank…” ?

see, i’ve been in a few boxing matches where I haven’t been knocked out but I have gotten my ass whupped. I would never walk out of the ring and the gym, not for the people watching, but for the man who just whupped my ass.
I know it’s popular to shit on Anderson these days, but I feel Anderson deserved to have Forrest stand next to him, the ref raise his hand, then a bow of the head or something like that from Forrest. If, after that, Forrest doesn’t want to talk, that’s fine—it’s the disrespect of your opponent I don’t like.

Additionally
I understood he was an emotional guy when it happened and it didn’t bother me too much at the time. I felt bad for him. But when he resurfaced later on with the terribly unprofessional and imo childish interview. He doesn’t live in a vacuum of his own emotions. He lives a life that profits off of the public.

The interview was what got me, too. Had to watch it twice.

Its not the leaving the cage thats the worst part. Did you hear the “your mom give great BJs” excuse he made up and fed to a fan first and then a reporter because he didn’t want to talk about it? Interviews come with the job.

The bj thing was totally a joke in the interview man , and to the fan (if that event ever happened) according to Forrest the fan was rude and pushy … I don’t think fighters are obligated to be nice to everyone under any circumstances … fans should know when to shut the fuck up somtimes.

i found this quote interesting...
“And this is my comeback fight. I’m not going to lie, it’s been a challenge for me. Not pain. I have no [back] pain, but I’m dealing with the fatigue from not fighting so long. I’m like 80-90% now, not 100.”
hopefully he isn’t firing the excuse express this early. forrest is certainly a tough first fight for him, especially after such a long layoff. hopefully he gets his cardio in order, so we can see if that back surgery has really done him some good.

Hopefully Forrest Griffin learns how to effectively snap the jab right through Tito’s guard because Tito really doesn’t like getting punched in the face.
Are people still complaining about Griffin post-fight run?

Tito understands that if he adds a metric ton of trash talk to the fight it’ll give the whole card a big boost now that BROCKLESNARRRRRRR!!!!!! has been sidelined.

I’ve seen Tito give……he [Forrest] usually brings it.
Odd me thinks.

Tito’s ringrust should be gone after the 1st round. Luckily for him Forrest never finishes anyone in the first so he should be okay.
