Not sure what magazine this is from or whether I’m going to have any calls from lawyers this weekend for publishing this picture but here is the first screen capture of gameplay from EA Sports MMA and I’m going to need about an hour to clean the saliva from my desk. Amazing stuff. Props to MMASupremacy from the UG for finding this.

I have to side with a commentor from the other thread and say that something seems a little off in this screen grab. It may be a target render or CGI they intend to use during the November 7th broadcast. I’d have to see it in motion… And don’t get me wrong, it’s not because it looks mind-blowing, but there are a few potentially tell-tale signs of the image not being a grab of realtime character models. Wish they could have picked a photo of standup, or a close up of a strike or something…

What that has to do with the screenshot displayed above is anyone’s idea. I’m no longer suggesting there isn’t a working version of the game, d00d.. The image looks strange. It’s about time they roll out a fucking video, since this thing has supposedly been in working form for like a year now, right? Right.

I’d say it looks like real gameplay. It doesnt even look THAT good to doubt it. FNR4 looks better than that. This gaem will look wayyyy better than Undisputed2009.

I didn’t say it looked too good to be a real shot. There are reasons that would be evident to someone with technical knowledge. For instance; the placement of suspect shading graphs, the creasing on the inside of Fedor’s shorts. It doesn’t look too good to be true, but it’s also impossible to tell how good it looks from this screen.

Fedor must be one of the easiest fighters to make into a video game-character. I mean he’s got two facial expression. The most used expression being the one looking fairly bored, which would be used most of the times regardless if he wins or… eeh wins and then the other more rare expression, when he smiles. As long as they don’t put any ice cream into the game there won’t be any need to model a smiling Fedor.
Oh wait! He did smile when ha talked about his victory over Sylvia.
Any release date set for the game?

I hope it doesn’t just apply solely to the roster, because we already have pretty good ideas of who will be included. There better be southpaw and they should seriously consider damage-by-location and better physics than in the UFC title. I hope this game outdoes THQ’s by miles, so they can start showing each other up on a yearly basis. Competition is good..

EA laughed at THQ when they didn’t include it on Undisputed 2009, so this will be a no brainer. The visible damage and all that other good stuff will be similar to Fight Night, I am sure.

I’m less concerned about visibility and more interested in working a leg via legkicks, or knowingly striking the body to make your opponent lower his hands… Shit like that that they may not think of, but should be thought of when considering fight psychology in MMA. I’d shit my pants over that…
