Should be cool.
Will Tito take Griffin down?
Will Ortiz be dominant? (doubt it)
Will Griffin employ leg kicks? high and low?
Will Forrest Run?

they said they’re gonna announce a new co-mainevent, and since haven’t officially announced Luiz Cane vs Lil Nog yet i bet that’s going to be it.

Just some Internet chatter about having a replacement fight.
Which is logical since they now only have 10 fights instead of 11. I doubt they’d put in a marquee fight bigger than lil nog and cane (which still isn’t announced), so I think it just gets promoted as coheadliner.
Unless they put some ufc 107 fight like Fitch Alvez..

There’s also that mythical card they had set up to run against SF but scrapped when they got it onto CBS.

who’s available (that isn’t already booked)? maybe jardine? big nog will be helping his brother train, so maybe he’d take a short notice fight?

Koscheck vs. Anthony Johnson
Both fought recently and took no damage. Koscheck is willing to fight anyone at any time, and Rumble owes the UFC a favor after missing weight. What better way than to step in on a month’s notice and make weight for a barnburner co-main event?

They both train at AKA
meaning that fight aint happening

I know that AJ doesn’t train at AKA, but is it Cung Le’s gym that he trains in? All I know is that Rumble trains with Cung Le and Josh Thomson.

terrible main event
ortiz hasnt won in 2-3 years, griffin is on a 2 fight losing streak having just been embarrassed by silva. its a good #2 fight, but a terrible headliner.

agreed, I dont see how this is a productive main event or how it sells PPV. After the Forrest debacle with Silva he cant possible sell a fight.

The main event is ok but what about the rest of the card ? Seriously , they took off Lesnar vs Carwin and put instead Nogueira vs Cain , is it a joke ? They should REALLY find a good co main event and then maybe we can call it a card .

Nogueria vs Cain is a good fight, but only to us the hardcores who will probably buy the PPV no matter what (excluding the douche bags who don’t pay to support the sport they claim to love). and since the UFCs big explosion, tito ortiz hasnt been heard of, and i doubt any of the new fans even know why they should care about him.

but he was able to pull big numbers before the explosion. It’s not going to do a million, but it will do a decent buy rate.
by Phildo on Oct 27, 2009 9:05 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
he pulled big #‘s after a whole season of TUF to fight the legend Ken Shamrock with AA as the headliner. he pulled big #’s on free tv in the rematch with shamrock, big numbers against Chuck Liddell (who some would argue was the main pull). big #‘s in 73 with 2 belts on the line against a TUF winner. and big numbers in 84 with the big BJ Penn vs Sherk fight. i think he’s been helped out by big cards, and then disappeared which i think will hurt his drawing power when compared to the current UFC PPV standards. all in my humble opinion.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that the UFC is looking to add one more bout to 106.

big shoes to fill with Brock dropping out. UFC 106 just went from over a million+ to around 500-600K. Ortiz is a big draw i just dont know how much this fight is With Run Forrest Run.

i went from liking griffin to pretty much not respecting him or caring when he fights. the main event isnt a big interest to me. i’ll buy the PPV because i host the parties, but for me it just went from a 16 person event at my house to about 4 or 5.

Forrest getting KTFO by Anderson in the way he did was bad but he could of recovered from it. The aftermath of him running out the cage and to the back was just a image that was burnt in many fans eyes. I like Forrest but he needs to change his attitude some if he wants to succeed again. Time for jokes are over. A loss here and his career is taking a turn in the wrong direction.

In a way, Coleman pulling out with an injury kind of saved the card. Ortiz/Griffin is a much more lucrative pay-per-view than Ortiz/Coleman.

Id rather see Coleman/ortiz personally its a old school match up one we wont get to see for much longer and Who knows what Ortiz we will see. He hasn’t exactly been that great pre back surgery. Who knows what he will look like now.

i dont expect him to be any better than before his back surgery. he simply has been out too long. an 18 month layoff with only 4 months of that in training (couldnt train while recovering from surgery) … i just cant see his cardio being where it needs to be, or his strength.

Yeah, everyone was singing its praises before, but once you lose a title bout and a quality welterweight bout in Fitch/Almeida it has kind of shit the bed.
I’m still looking forward to the card though. A lot of great matches on it.

Hell, throw Franklin vs. Jardine on this card
if they need one more fight, although I would think that both of those guys need more than a one-month camp.
by Scott Haber on Oct 27, 2009 10:50 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Or really, any light heavyweight fight
involving Cantwell, Matyushenko, Franklin, or Jardine. None of those guys are booked right now, and although it wouldn’t quite be a “co-main event”-level fight, it would be a solid addition to the main card.

Would Franklin's medical suspension be up?
I’m guessing minimum two months after the Belfor fight, right?

Vitor Belfort (suspended until Sept. 27)
def. Rich Franklin (suspended until Oct. 20)

Possible fights?
Mix and match Hughes Serra Daley Trigg and Baroni. (daley is possible since he just fought and didn’t take much damage.. although serra and others might not make weight in time)
Franklin Jardine as scott said
Belfort Marquardt (if silva is really out, could be a decent fight)
Dos Santos vs anyone (he’ll be helping Lil Nog anyway) maybe Cain?
by Anton Tabuena on Oct 27, 2009 11:06 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
still think they'll just move Cane Lil nog up though..

I would like to see that. This Forrest/Tito main event doesn’t do anything for me.
