yeah, i can’t imagine anyone with H1N1 symptoms willingly spending time around what appears to be a pediatric cancer patient.

you're a dick!

that “pediatric cancer patient” is his daughter. You either didn’t hear that part or are a total douche bag!

He didn't say he had H1N1, he just said he was sick.

That said he looks pretty healthy there. Hmmmm……

But Shane Carwin said that after he got done rescheduling the fight....

He also said he’d been sick for weeks. That game was 9 days ago. hmmmm looks fine in the video.

DANA said he'd been sick for weeks

Brock’s trainer said a week and a half. Dana’s the one who threw out the 3 weeks number.

Let's be clear

There are a lot of numbers flying around about this – and none of them line up with each other.

based on the confusion in the article where Iole quotes carwin on saturday saying he was bummed, and then carwin “tweets” only moments after Ioles story goes up that he just heard about it from the press. i wonder if dana just moved it back so he has a bigger NYE card.

If anything Dana an Joe silva had more to do with this then Brock and Shane. Brock is the company's and MMA in generals biggest draw. First card right out the gate is always big and sets the tone for the year. Plus they have achieved great numbers this year in PPV. With Brock on the very first card he could possibly have 3 fights next year and thats 3 different cards who could get a million plus buys. Smart move if this is the case but they still need to replace them with something if not 106 just got shitted on

so long as the UFC can have 2-3 cards per month, i’m happy for them and the fighters. with that many cards a month, MANY MORE FIGHTERS ARE EMPLOYED. but they cant keep selling these cards as PPVs. i have no big problem with it for november because i’m only getting charged 1 that month, but august sucked, franklin vs belfort was a turd, and now ortiz vs griffin 2 ??? hope they arent setting the tone for 2010

Dont buy every card. If you think a card is worth the purchase then dont order it. If they put on lackluster cards and still sell them because people will buy them regardless of who is on it and how many events they have had that month how do you expect it to change? If the numbers take a big enough hit they will work something out

Whats shocking about this is that the lady doing the voiceover says something like “The UFC which is a Mixed Martial Arts Promotion in the US”. Stunningly accurate. Bravo.

Does she also announce “and now, the starting offense for your Minnesota Vikings, a football team that is part of the National Football League…”

You are a silly little man. She didn’t call him an “Ultimate Fighter”, that is an improvement. She was explaining who he was for people that might not know. I am not sure she even mentioned the WWE. She colored him as an ex Viking. They also showed him blowing the viking horn, which is a pretty homoerotic activity. Don-Cha-Know.

First, let me say that I think that Dana just pulled a switcharoo for the NYE card. Im perfectly fine with that, as long as they don’t make up a reason.

That being said, we have no idea what he could be sick with. I had major stomach problems last year that sucked big time and lasted for several weeks. No one knew I was ever sick.

by davidhamilton83 on Oct 27, 2009 9:26 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

agreed

I’m not saying there isn’t something funny going on, I’m just saying this isn’t proof.

He could also be on heavy meds for this event. Good enough to show up and appear OK, but you wouldn’t want to be training.

I guess other people are saying that he did have H1N1.

Maybe he got better a couple of weeks ago.

That still probably wouldn’t been enough time to train for the Nov. 21st event.

Too many conspiracy theories in here..

He could have started feeling under the weather and pushed through his public appearance. I was at a wedding 2 weeks ago.. The night before at the bachelor party I was perfectly fine until about 4 am.. I ended up having to drive home at 4 am instead of staying at the hotel so I could get medicine and try to get some sleep before the wedding.

I ended up with zero sleep for 42 hours and made it through the entire wedding and reception running a 103 fever and nobody but the groomsmen & my wife knew I was sick. Needless to say about 40% of the entire wedding audience came down with severe flu’s these last 2 weeks.. Mine lasted about a week..

He could very well be sick but still manage to make public appearances while keeping it under wraps. It’s the training that he was having trouble with..

 * sigh *

ok let me try this way:
I suppose, with all of the work that Brock Lesnar has been doing lately to show the world that he is just an average, wonderful, beautiful and great, person who deserves our love and respect, he mis-timed his legal and perfectly natural vitamin schedule and needed more time to let his body get back to it’s more natural, and wonderful and great, state.

There mods, is that good enough? I know people can joke about Mir, Bisping, Carwin, etc etc. but really – we can’t even make a joke about Lesnar? Jesus you guys are fucking trigger happy… I really wish you guys would get together and make a definitive post on what is and isn’t acceptable because it seems to change every day, with every mod and about every fighter.

We are cracking down...

on people stating that fighters are on banned substances as a fact. Until a fighter tests positive you may not state that they are on something as though it is fact. If you do so it will get hidden. If you have a problem with these rules…take your act somewhere else.

So what does one do to suggest that one believes that there is a strong possibility of the same?

I mean, where’s the line? A lot of us want to be good citizens of the BE tribe and not cause headaches for the staff, but still feel the need to express our opinions on matters like this. Here are some statements, from least to most direct – where do we draw the line?

[Keep in mind that I’m not SAYING any single one of these, just posing them as hypotheticals.]

  • Man, the Minnesotta Martial Arts Academy is the new Hammer House!
  • If Allistair Overeem bulks up anymore, I’m afraid he’ll piss horse hurine.
  • I sure think that Sean Sherk has a lot of muscle mass for such a tiny man. Suspiciously so.
  • You know, after looking at his performances and reading up on steroids, I have this feeling that Brock Lesnar may have been using PEDs at some point, most likely while he was out of traditional athletics and instead engaged in sports entertainment.
  • HOLY CRAP THAT DUDE IS SO SHREDDED THAT HIS INJECTION SITES HAVE INJECTION SITES!
  • Josh Barnett is a steroid-using meany.

So how far down that list can we go before we start upsetting the apple-cart?

I don’t get why he’d pretend to have swine flu, surely just some random injury would be more straightforward?

This is the best Sherk theory I've read:
I like to imagine Sherk finding out about the test, realizing that he couldn’t pass a steroid screen without a few weeks of Golden Seal, and eventually flying into a rage tossing his truck tires and sledgehammers around until he injured himself. What do you think?

Illness goes away. Injuries are harder to “time” than an illness. “I have the flu, my fight needs to be pushed back a month” vs. “I have a broken hand, it should be good in a month”

I wish the UFC just had teh balls.....

…..to say, "We don’t want to put so much star power on 1 card. We can use Tito and Forrest who are both good draws to carry this card, and we can use Brock to prop up the currently lack luster NYE card. It’s just good business. "

The same thing happened for UFC 100. Brock or Mir or whoever got “hurt” and the big HW fight got moved to the big show. What a shocker.

Iole Comments About Youtube Vid and Conspiracy

http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slug=ki-mmamailbag102709&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

I saw the video and I will concede he did not look sick. Having said that, I’m not his doctor, nor do I have access to his medical records. His management insists he’s been very sick and his training partners have concurred. I asked Dana White and he said he hadn’t seen the video. He said Lesnar called him Monday, which is the first he found out about the illness, and said he couldn’t make it. White further said Lesnar told him he is not sure if he could fight in January. I asked if Lesnar sounded ill when they spoke and he said no. White said he had breakfast with Lesnar in Las Vegas about a month ago and said Lesnar told him at that time he wanted to fight frequently. Something doesn’t add up here and this bears further watching.
