Kazushi Sakuraba is my hero
Alright after UFC 104 it is hard to pay any attention to the amazing fights DREAM 12 had to offer. I cant let this one go though Sakuraba has shown once again he can take a hell of a beating and still pull of that sub. While his last fight was a warm up so to speak he had a true and legitimate challenger in Zelg Galesic.
Kazushi Sakuraba vs Zelg Galesic - DREAM 12 - With Entrances! (via dodgersfan39)
Alot of people believed he did not even have a chance in this fight but he came out and did what he does best. I wanna know what you think of our old pal Sakuraba or if you even care. Do you think he should keep going up in competition or is he in danger of being the first death during a MMA fight.

The exact short-term and long-term effects of concussion are still evolving. One thing is clear, concussions are cumulative. After the first concussion the athlete’s risk of a second concussion increases by 400%. With each concussion it becomes easier to sustain another concussion. After each concussion the symptoms become more severe and last longer.
The exact effects of multiple concussions are also far from being clear. Long-term effects include vision problems, memory deterioration, impaired balance, loss of coordination, and persistent headaches. These symptoms also may not improve over time. The long-term effects of multiple concussions have ended numerous professional careers, including Stan Humphries, Al Toon, Harry Carson, Merryl Hoge, and Brett Lindros to name a few. The possibility exists these situations were due to mismanagement of earlier concussions.
Dream was pretty impressive
The Sakuraba fight was fantastic, Eddie Alvarez’s performance was far from impressive but the fight was entertaining and Maeda’s rear-naked choke was so lightning fast I barely saw what happened. All in all I loved the Dream card and the fights were pretty entertaining..well except for the joke that was Overeem v Thompson.
agreed note that thompson was a last minute replacement though
p.s. love maeda in all his performances

Saku’s a true legend. A few years ago, I was in the camp of folks who thought/think he should hang ‘em up; now, I don’t really care. If the man can smoke a pack a day, take a beating like that and still pull out wins at 40 years of age, who’s to stop him from fighting?
Unfortunately, sounds like no Saku on NYE this year though:
"There’s no damage to my brain and also my bones are fine," said Sakuraba during a post-fight press conference on Tuesday. "It’s just a bruise on my temple. After I go back to Tokyo, I’ll go to a doctor again. I’m sorry. I didn’t drink last night, so I’m not funny today."http://www.sherdog.com/pictures/event/dream-12-notebook-amp-presser-pictures-sakuraba-unlikely-to-compete-on-nye-20562
I said it during the Live Convo about the DREAM event, so I’ll say it again.
He’s going to die in a fight. It’s inevitable. He will die in a ring.

But much respect for Galesic
taken from his post fight….
He had the heel hook and I can hear my leg snap, but I thought ‘okay, it’s snapped. no point in quitting now’ so I keep going with my punches. Then he took the anklelock and he snap it again. And i thought ‘Ok, he snapped that. No need to tap out, I can still pound him.’ Then he snap my knee.
just pure badassery check out the video
