surprised to hear him say he’s still working a full time desk job. i can see his point about other guys who run gyms and what not, but they’re at least in fight mode.

Interesting that Dana recommended Carwin quit his job if he wins the title. (at the 5:50 min mark)

yeah, i’d imagine there’s a ton of media he’d have to do after winning the belt (especially against a guy like lesnar). if he’s working a job during normal business hours, it means he’s not available for that.
but moreso, i’d think he’d wanna quit BEFORE the title shot, just to make sure he’s as prepared as possible. then again, he made 32,000 for the gonzaga fight, so he’s not exactly at the top of the pay scale.
to each their own though.

Might be a good idea to take a leave of absence from work if you’re training for BROCKLESNARRRR!.

I imagine he's taken a leave of absence since it's close to the fight.
At least I hope. And he’s smart to not just outright quit his day job. I’m sure he gets paid pretty well being an engineer. Plus with a pregnant wife, he’d be dumb to get rid of a source of income.
