Gonna be a busy night for me...

I’m juiced to finally see Couture in action, and I just know that the Hardy v Swick bout is going to be a barn-burner.

On a personal note I’m really looking forward to getting back to Manchester; I shot my first UFC event there (70) and this will be my fourteenth UFC shoot.

Wait. That means I’ll have shot 14 out of the last 35 marquee events… that’s almost half… bloody hell!!

nice!

I hope Hardy/Swick is a gem and isn’t just Swick/Davis II

Oh, I doubt it

Both Swick and Hardy have wins over Davis; granted, both of them were decisions but still – it means that on paper, they’re more evenly matched.

Their striking ability is well documented, so I reckon what it will come down to on the night is speed, accuracy and stamina; I think it will hinge on who connects first with something solid.

If it goes to the ground I’d be tempted to say that Swick may have the advantage… but Hardy is no slouch there (so I’m told); this may be the first match in which we see how comfortable and/or skilled Hardy is when on his back.

Either way this fight is a shoe-in for fight of the night.

I’m reasonably confident that Ross Pearson’s fight against Aaron Riley will be decisive, and we may way well see the same of James Wilks vs. Matt Brown (sub of the night in that fight?)

One other thing: I’m hoping for relatively quick bouts so that the maximum number of fights get aired on broadcast – hope that’s not too much to ask for :)

Right. I’m just saying. Swick/Davis was talked about as a striking contest that would come down to accurate striking and stamina. Instead it was Swick just laying on top of Davis all night and doing the infamous “swicking out”

I'm looking forward to shooting them :)

I get into Manchester at around 10:30am on Wednesday 11th and I’m almost immediately straight to work; I’ve got so much to cover this time around that I’ll be lucky to see my hotel room except for image editing / blod updates and possibly sleep (yes, in that order)

AWESOME promo video!

He doesn’t need to win a belt. He doesn’t need to be champion. He doesn’t need to fight… He just wants to.

that’s just awesome, probably the best ufc promo vid this year

Cotto vs Pacman is the same night, correct?

by xDieseLx on Oct 25, 2009 7:10 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

YUP

PAC MAN vs COTTO will be a HUGE fight that day.

HUGE is an overstatement...

2 guys with little to no english and not a ton of name recognition. It’s a huge fight in the sport of boxing, but it won’t transcend the sport like Mayweather/Marquez.

It will be huge since I live in Southern California and there are a ton of Latino and Filipino fans that are really excited for this fight. I think you are underestimating it, though.

Possible...

Talking to Scott Christ (badlefthook.com) he is saying around 900k in buys. I was thinking 650. I dunno. We’ll see

You’re really underestimating Manny.. haha. I’ll be in san francisco on fight day so i will probably be adding 1 buy to that list. haha. :)

Yup. 800K – 1 mill is my low estimate.
=)

Mr. Mendoza, will you be adding one buy on that prediction of yours? or sports bar with some Pinoys again? :)

Trotting out “muay Thai wrecking machine” again, huh? It’s a little strained when applied to Brandon Vera. But I guess “muay Thai fighting person” doesn’t have quite the same ring to.

by JRN on Oct 25, 2009 9:46 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Huh… I just realized that I live in England now, a train ride from Manchester, and I’m not doing anything that day. Maybe I’ll go see this one!
