UFC 104 Results: Pat Barry TKO's Antoni Hardonk in Two
Pat Barry utterly dominated his old training partner Antoni Hardonk finishing him in the second round.
The two trained together under legendary Dutch kickboxer Ernesto Hoost. According to rumor, Barry was cast out of the Hoost camp. Whatever the facts of that, tonight Hardonk declined to touch gloves with his old training partner.
But Barry quickly established that Hardonk would have to respect him, scoring with straight punches. Hardonk landed a few of his trademark leg kicks, but had no answer for Barry's speed and power.
The fight spent part of the first round on the ground after Hardonk made a poor attempt at a takedown and wound up on his back. When they stood back up, Hardonk was bloodied and battered.
In the second round Barry scored repeated with hard jabs and straight lefts. He dropped Hardonk with a jab early and stuck with that winning strategy. He finished Hardonk with 2:30 left in the second.
Pat Barry answered his critics who said he should drop to Light Heavyweight tonight by finishing a much bigger fighter...for now.

personally id rather be in a shitty division like heavyweight lacking reach than in a division with actual skilled fighters lacking a ground game

I was impressed with Barry’s hand speed

Agreed. Barry’s hands looked good. Add his kicks with that and you have a killer stand-up game.
Now if he can just stop sucking on the ground.

Damn
Hardonk had that fight…. Now he just needs to learn how to move his head a little when his opponent is attacking it.

With the speed Barry had with his hands, it would be tough.. they were damn quick.

Props to Barry
He wanted this fight far and away more than Antoni….
I thought Antoni did pretty good in the first round and I thought he would use his range more… and counter Barry with kicks… From the clinch I thought Antoni would go for an inside trip, not try to shoot in. I think Antoni may need to diversify his training…. I also wonder now having gone 0-2 in his last 2 fights if the UFC will part ways….
Barry has sick fast hand speed, coupled with Antoni’s lack of head movement and Antoni not dictating the range… it wasn’t going to be long.
