"Asked what he thinks about Belfort’s arrival in the UFC middleweight division, he sneered, "Which Vitor is that? The one who trained with me, Rogerio and Rodrigo a few months ago?"
"Clearly Belfort’s willingness to fight him without complaint has touched a nerve. It is clear that Anderson sees it as a betrayal of some kind. "Maybe he will want to fight Rodrigo or Rogerio, even though he is training with them. I think Vitor has to find himself, he is totally lost," he spat.

Let’s just divide each weight division in the UFC into two seperate teams and then guys won’t have to fight people on their own team. This shit is annoying, we already have this problem in the WW division where all the AKA guys won’t fight each other let’s just jam up all of the weight classes and that way none of the top fighters will have to fight each other.

So rec'd
If these Brazilian guys had their way, none of them would ever fight the rest of them.
It’s an individual sport. Suit up and get in the cage. You’ve trained together in the past? Good, then this will seem familiar, and this time you’ll get paid an assload of money to do it.
Although detractors decry (MMA) as a brutal, bloody form of human cockfighting, aficionados know it is a brutal, bloody, totally fucking awesome form of human cockfighting. -The Onion

Seriously what is up with Silva now?
All I hear him do now is bitch that this opponent has earned a title shot or that these 2 need to fight each other to determine the #1 contender.
News Flash Anderson: Dana doesnt want to let you destroy the whole LHW division if there is no chance you will fight Machida.
The only person who I have even heard him express interest in fighting is Frank Mir and honestly what sounds like a better match up Silva/Mir or Silva/Belfort?I would take Silva/Belfort any day of the week but maybe that is just me.

Shut the hell up Anderson Silva
This is just getting ridiculous.

Of course Anderson probably said all that in Portuguese because he STILL HASN’T LEARNED ENGLISH.

1: Every great matchup will happen in the UFC eventually regardless of who trains with who.
2: It’s the resistance to friends fighting friends that offers so much drama promotionally. If two guys are friends but they both just say “what do I care, I’m getting paid?” then there is no drama with them fighting each other.

I hate Ed Soares
Just thought I’d throw that in, doesn’t really have anything to do with this post in particular.

This is awesome.
I can’t wait to see what an angry Anderson is going to be like in the cage. I feel a bit sorry for Vitor.

silva named himself, rodrigo and rogerio…. the champ at 185, and two top contenders at 205 and heavy…. i wonder if anderson expects vitor to cut to 170???

I Understand
I see two things happening … UFC is underpaying Silva, and then they want him to fight his friends, I can see where he is getting disgruntled. If I were in Silva’s shoes, I wouldn’t do superfights either. I would wait until my contract runs out … and then agree to fight friends, etc.
by remeadial on Oct 23, 2009 7:19 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He's not underpaid
Based on the PPV buys, he is overpaid when compared to others. This is about economics. If he is unhappy with his contract he shouldn’t have signed it.

Right
So what if Anderson says all the guys in the top ten are his friends, he doesn’t have to fight them?

The whole thing stinks
It’s about competition. That’s the sport he chose to pursue. It’s not like you have to seek out your buddies and fight them, but when you’re at the top .0001% of your profession and you’re in the same weight class, it’s your job. Period.

I wonder how a angry Silva would so in the octagon, I mean if the Silva we saw against Forrest is just having fun then I wouldn’t want to be Vitor when they go head to head.

Reading Comprehension and Drawing Weird Conclusions
Heads up and listen.
Do not project your feelings or how you would react on fighter’s statements. Not to mention they’re presented in a sensationalized and exaggerated manner.
I hate Silva, I hate Soares . . . sorry, it sounds like some of you are complaining over nothing. No disrespect. These fighters are not losing sleep over how fans feel when they make off-kilter statements (see: Matt Huges!)
Do you realize how old some of these statements are. He’s just talking, Parrots Talk (See: Shogun!), it is not a big deal. He’s just stating his opinions. He’s going to fight, it is that simple.
I want to fight and, if the doctor lets me to be back to training, I’ll train and I may fight with Dan Henderson, Vitor, I don’t choose opponent, dude. I’m here to fight anyone. If the weight matches, 195, or 205, or 185 pounds, if I have to fight, I’ll fight. Each one has an opinion and says what think is better, and I’m training to be back better than never to keep with my work, whoever my opponent is. I don’t have to prove anything to anyone. I get there to do my job and there’s nowhere to run, that our life. Of course I have my personal opinion about some people attitudes, but it has no influence on UFC’s decision to make one fight or other. I want to defend my title and my personal interests, of course, and you gotta have strategy inside and outside the octagon. I’m crazy to grab somebody, I’m crazy to kick asses.

Ok, I get it, we aren’t allowed to have our own opinions because the fighters don’t care. I hear stuff like this on here often and it makes me wonder why they even have comment sections in these articles, obviously what we think doesn’t matter so what’s the point of discussing it?

From what I have seen in the past, Anderson is one mis-represented guy...
I’m not sure if it is in the translations or the editing for content, but often he comes across one way, and then a little later someone show the full quote or retranslated quote and suddenly it comes across very differently.
I know my brother’s Brazilian friends complain constantly about how he is translated.
But, then again, he could put some serious effort into learning some English.
by Razreshat on Oct 24, 2009 12:12 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That might be true
But for the amount of stuff like this that comes out about him either the entire MMA media has a vendetta against him or he actually says and means most of what is printed.
Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.

I think a lot of mis-representation or translation occurs with fans’ feelings and their how they infer what a fighter feels or thinks. In addition to that, there is a lot of statements that are not put in their proper context and tidbits of information that fans are not aware of.
I also tend to think there’s a huge difference how fighters and fans think and view a fight. On top of that, there’s a definitely a cultural difference between Americans, Japanese and Brazilians.

As great as he is,Silva will never be a big draw, so whatever he says is just falling on deaf ears. Honestly I see the Spider’s popularity fading the more he wins.

Sad.
I get Anderson wants to get as big a payday as he can at this point in his contract (I think he has two fights left). The one thing I’m starting to wonder is if he has peeked, and he knows eventually someone is going to punch his ticket and he won’t be able to make as much money as he can right now (alot like Fedor). Also, he can’t speak much english, and that has been an issue in his marketing, and if you take away his belt (in a loss), he will become even less marketable. So say what you will, but it is all about money.
The guy is a great fighter, and he should face the best of the best right now, but just like Hughes, Liddell and all the other guys who seemed “unbeatable” at one point, he will be beat. I just think he wants as much money as he can get right now, and I just can’t blame him for that, it just sucks for fans.

Based on his performance against Forrest...
I can think of one guy in the 185 – 205 range that might be able to take him down. That guy has a belt too.
