"Honestly, I’ll stand with him until he hits me and then I will stand with him some more and then he’s going to be like, ‘What’s happening?’ And then I’m going to take him down. Then I will keep putting him on the ground and he’s going to try to get up and then I’m going to take him back down and I’m going to hit him. He’s not going to know where I’m coming from and he’s not going to know what happened. And then he’s going to know the fights over. I [know what] I really want to do in my heart, that I’m going to do and I can’t say it, but it’s going to be bad."
-Joe Stevenson giving one of the worst quotes of the year to FightHype. Stevenson fight's Spencer Fisher this Saturday at UFC 104.

Who is Stevenson fighting?

Joe Stevenson: Rhodes Scholar
It’s not really the same, but this reminded me of Animal House where Belushi is going on about how we didn’t give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor and they just say “let him go, he’s on a roll.”

And then the fight will go to the ground, and then they’ll get back up, and they’ll throw some punches, and later one of the fighters will leave the cage. Then the other one will leave after being declared the winner. Then we’ll have cake.

It’s like when I was little I’d pretend to be Hulk Hogan and my dad would be Andre the Giant and I’d be all “And then..Andre…I’m gonna punch you in the head! and…and…you’ll try to headbutt me…but I’ll…punch you again! and…then…um. you will fall down! LEG DROP!”

I'm all for prefight shit talking or hype,
but this stuff just gets ridiculous.

His quote is neither shit talk or hype, it’s like he’s trying to give a point-by-point account of a fight that hasn’t happened, but he’s apparently suffering from ADD and can’t really focus on what he’s saying.

I realize that,
but it still kind of goes into the category of hype.

I’m going to stand and bang, take him down, get punched, get up again, stand and bang OOOH SHINY THING………………….
Ummmmm, who are you again?

Stevenson’s Quote makes about as much sense as this “sentence”.

now i want to go find if he had any quotes from before the Diego Sanchez fight… “I’m going to stand in front of him for 15 minutes, and let him dish out a savage beating. I will not try once to take him down, because that’s just what he’d be expecting me to do.”

Based on his quote
I think there is a very good chance that someone will win this fight.

Probably won't be the fans
Judging by what Joe Daddy did in his last fight.
by dv8shun on Oct 22, 2009 1:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
really?
i must be the only one that liked daddy getting back in the mix, he DOMINATED diaz and put on a grappling clinic… with his build, strength, and grappling acumen, all he needed was a postive mental attitude and good gameplan that jackson gave him and he’ll come back a huge threat to any lightweight

What won Joe Stevenson his last fight? Wrestling.
What is Spencer Fisher bad at? Wrestling.
What is Joe Stevenson’s plan? Punching.

No it didn’t work for Sherk against Frank Edgar, but Edgar is a pretty darn good boxer and his wrestling, size notwithstanding, is at least comprable to Sherk’s, so it’s really a different situation all together to when Sherk faced Griffin.
I mean, I drew the comparison to the Sherk v. Griffin fight for a reason.

"I [know what] I really want to do in my heart"
Wrestle.
“that I’m going to do”
Wrestle
“and I can’t say it,”
Because it’s wrestling, which is what you’re good at, so why make it more obvious than it already is?
If Stevenson stands with Fisher he’s an idiot. That Stevenson says he’ll stand with Fisher makes sense, but him actually doing it would be really dumb.

So he's going to do some lay-and-pray
Just like he did with Diaz and supposedly attempt to finish Fisher. Clearly, he’s the one to watch from Greg Jackson’s. I also predict Rogan mentioning Joe Daddy’s Guillotine. About how it’s like a vice-grip and that he almost tapped out Mir.

Confusion:
1 : an act or instance of confusing – confusion of the issue
2 a : the quality or state of being confused – try to relieve their confusion – b : a confused mass or mixture – a confusion of voices
The question is: who’s more confused?
1. Joe
2. Spencer
3. Us
