My fight on Nov. 21st is off, Almedia blew out his knee, but I get a bigger better fight instead. Cant say who...

The only “huge” fights in the division for him I guess would be GSP (which is a no), Hughes (a maybe) or Alves (who doesn’t really work either). So it almost has to be Hughes

Alves-Fitch II doesn’t make sense, at least now, it would only if Alves beat GSP

Alves – Fitch 2 does make sense, i think. They fought a long time ago (relatively) and a lot has changed since, also, it sets 1 of them up, viably, for a title shot while relegating the other to more of the middle of the division.
Whoever wins Alves/Fitch 2 would have a legitimate claim for a rematch with GSP, though I don’t what putting Alves back in there against GSP so soon would prove.

When contacted by MMAmania.com, Fitch was unable to reveal his new opponent, but did say his fight would be shifted to a later date against "A huge opponent."

Yeah, that was my next question.
Not who, but when will he fight next. Now he’s off the Lesnar card, which would have been huge exposure. 107 and 108 are pretty full already, barring more injuries. 109 looks pretty weak.
He already got exposure at the Lesnar-headlined UFC 100 show
The wrong type thanks to that awful fight with Thiago.
Later date makes sense
I wouldn’t imagine Hughes taking a fight on short notice(if it is in fact him). Alves already has Paulo, he won’t fight his friends, Kampman and Daley aren’t bigger better fights. So it’s either Hughes, or Fitch has no concept of “bigger, better”.
New signing maybe? Who’s outside the UFC?

No one really, only bigger named fighters that i can think of that haven’t fought recently or don’t have a fight coming up outside the UFC are Jay Hieron and Nick Diaz

Only fight I can think of that’d be huge is another shot at Gsp, no other contenders really. Bj Penn vs fitch would be good too, but bj is fighting Diego

my moneys on fitch/ alves II
no other divisional fight makes sense… alves lost the first time but also took st. pierre 5 rounds, it would make sense , and fitch’s style isn’t a draw, so its not like they’d be losing a contender either way
Theres noone else that wouldn’t be a step down for Fitch
Or Shields, as long as we’re in fantasy land.

Shields is the one who will be going against Mayhem for the Strikeforce title.

If they give him Alves, then that would be good in a way for Paulo Thiago (who Alves is supposed to be fighting) because there would be a chance to give Paulo a non-top 5 Welterweight and potentially an easier fight.

Fight with Hughes to see who gets the crap beaten out of them next?
Keep firing Assholes!
Never trust a man with no shirt on.
it would kinda make sense
because haven’t the AKA guys been talking crap about how Hughes wouldn’t fight them?
by Austin Martin on Oct 22, 2009 10:53 AM EDT up reply actions
Yeah but if Hughes does fight an aka guy, why would he agree to fight the best aka welterweight

I guess he’s rather fight Fitch than the one with the really fast hands or the one with the massive KO power.

That is what I was thinking.
If it is Hughes, that is likely the reason he would take this fight.
Arguing on the internet is like being in the special olympics, even when you win you are still retarded.
here's the entire quote from fitch:
My fight on Nov. 21st is off, Almedia blew out his knee, but I get a bigger better fight instead. Cant say who yet, but lots of you have been waiting for this fight a long time.
so it’s got to be Hughes.. He’s been calling him out for ages, and that’s what the AKA guys talk about all the time, even on twitter.
I don’t think people have been waiting for a rematch with a guy he already beat (alves) or a guy who completely dominated him (GSP)..
Then “You” = the AKA team?
Nobody asked for this fight except the aka guys.
UFC 104=> ben rothwell will UD the shit outta Velasquez.
the aka guys tweet about it,
so if quite a few of their fans reply with, ‘yeah i hope you get to fight hughes’ or ‘why is hughes ducking aka guys?’ then it would be logical that fitch might think that his fans want him against hughes, correct?
It’s not like he frequents blogs to see the general consensus right?

I dont care who he fights really,
but I am sick of all these retarded AKA guys calling out a has been fighter. How bout running their mouth about GSP?

i don’t want to see that fight AT ALL

Shit, I was looking forward to see almeida at 170.

106 was too stacked,
so they had to balance it out a bit. Haha. :)

me too,
was thinking Big Dog could be a force at WW.
And it would’ve afforded GSP an opponent that’s not a rematch (which I don’t really have a problem with, but a lot of people shit on rematches).

I thought Hughes wasn’t gonna fight Fitch or the other AKA guys but props to him if he takes this fight! Fitch is super tough but anything can happen in MMA…
Alves/Fitch 2 would be great also.
I don’t think it would be anyone else??
Hughes isn’t worried about this. I mean, yeah, he’s gonna get killed, but he firmly believes he’s gonna destroy Fitch. In Hughes’ head, he tweaked his knee which allowed Alves to land that knee to his face. In the GSP fight, he was destroying GSP until he was distracted by thoughts of his goats on his farm, and got judo’d. Otherwise Hughes was on top of both those fights. So Fitch, to Hughes, will be a cakewalk.
Think about this, everyone: who is the guy that is always waiting in the wings to jump back in when someone gets injured?
Kimbo.

I haven’t heard anybody throw this name out there…. How bout Matt Serra? Interesting fight. Is Serra Injured?
Or maybe Karo?
Fitch and Parisyan had some decent heat a few years ago… Fitch always claiming Karo was ducking him and the such.
The biggest fight for Fitch is Alves. Alves is a different fighter since their first fight. He’s way way bigger, he’s developed his stand-up to elite levels, and most importantly, his take down defense is way way better. GSP pulled all the stops to get him down.
But isnt Alves already scheduled to face Paulo Thiago?
Arguing on the internet is like being in the special olympics, even when you win you are still retarded.
Well, Fitch said that it would be pushed out a little farther, but I’m not trying to guess who it is, I’m more just saying what is probably his biggest fight.
Looks like MMAjunkie is reporting that Fitch will be taking on Alves @107.

Nick Diaz?
Why would this be so huge?. Nick was drummed out of the UFC on the heels of losses by mid level welterweights, now he is worthy of a shot @ no 1 contender?
Because he beat an overrated Frank Shamrock and a lower level MW named Scott Smith?
Also, he has made it clear that he will not stop smoking marijuana, that he has a right and needs it. Plainly, he WILL not be able to smoke marijuana fighting in the UFC, it would be a circus.
Well for one he actually left the UFC winning his last couple of fights and the only mid level WW he lost to was Riggs, but getting past that, he is not the same fighter as he was in the UFC and he has only one loss (due to cuts) since he and the UFC parted ways. That’s why he would already be in title contention.
