So what’s up with Dana giving away so many tickets? NY, LA, Vegas…I know they usually comp a bunch but this seems like a lot. Maybe I’m just pissed because I’m the one jackass that paid for mine :P

Sales for 104 are absolutely dreadful.

Dana’s a nice guy, no doubt, but the ticket sales in LA are going horribly.

Why do you think that is? I thought the card was pretty decent.

I personally don’t understand why they go to markets like LA and Chicago and don’t stack the cards. Aren’t these important markets to the UFC fan base? Machida/Shogun and Velasquez/Rothwell isn’t much for the casual LA sports fan. I’m not surprised. And don’t get me started on the Chicago card featuring Silva vs Cote.

I was wondering about that. I assumed sales must be bad for him to be giving this many tickets away. It sucks since it’s not going to encourage them to go back anytime soon.

by Chris Barton on Oct 21, 2009 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Ok, his giving away a few dozens of tickets has nothing to do with ticket sales...

If he were tossing THOUSANDS of tickets for free, I could see how one could think that.
And even for sold-out events, 1000-2000 tix are papered anyway.

by GoldenOldie on Oct 21, 2009 7:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Seriously, do you really think I’d say the ticket sales were poor if I didn’t know the ticket sales were poor? You really think I’m just spit balling over here?

Come on, people.

EASY Luke… we’re all friends here.
My sarcasm didn’t come across.

I still stand by my second comment above.

I can’t reveal them, but it’s a lock they aren’t selling anymore than 10 to 11k for a 20k venue. They can paper it quite a bit, but that’s how much they’re selling.

Wow, man that sucks. This is such a damn good card. I wasn’t doubting you, just wanting to know if there was actual news on slow ticket sales I hadn’t heard. Thanks.

is their business hurting?

venue to big?

or tickets to high? i know mosley/margarito sold out the staples but the highest tickets went for $300 i believe. dana needs to come down on the tickets more outside of vegas, like he said he was. hr probably needs tocome down in vegas to, unls brock is fighting. i know the bottom line is all the counts, but 2/3 filled stadiums that are heavily papered. they’ll figure it out.

I went to both affliction fights and those were awesome but i couldnt bring myself to spend 150 for ufc tix.. they are out of the 50 dollar seats

Dana is compensating for all the love he lacked as a child.

Events get papered… these twitter campaigns are alot better than loading people on buses and driving them in and these guys are:

1. they are actual fans

2. they made a sacrifice in getting the tickets so they have inherent “buy-in” giving the attendance more value

3. ITS AWESOME PR.

4. The damn vlogs need some content.

It’s interesting seeing all the Twitter stalkers . A big mix of people too.
