Keep an eye out for me (player name: bloodyelbow) at the tables. While I loves playing for real money, playing with MMA fans is always fun.

haha...
i do occasionally. In order of playing time I’d say Full Tilt → Ultimate Bet → Poker Stars.

I just use it (much like sherdog fightfinder), to track his stats
He’s got some decent scores. I always laugh at the P% rankins because half those guys are either backed and broke or will go broke with the volume they play yet they think they are 2nd coming of jesus or something. The cash players that don’t brag and are cleaning up the 25/50 are the ones I look up to..
I have discussed this with him. The theory that playing small money with less skilled players is a faster way to build a roll. He largely agrees, but his income is not derived from poker so he dabbles in larger game (mostly live) rather then grinding it out. Which brings me to a new theory I just developed. HTLBrent Brookhouse. UB had a cheating scandal and it drives away good players that make money and are aware of the scandal. The scandal root gets snuffed out and it becomes a very legit site with no good players. a player with a moderate amount of skill cleans up.
I don’t man, I think the casual player does a lot of research and is generally very cautious before making a site deposit. I too had heard UB was doing a lot to clean up the image, etc but I still think players gravitate towards sites like stars and tilt because they view those sites as safer.
There are a ton of bad players at stars at the lower limits. I’m sure that’s the case with most sites. It gets tougher as you move up towards the $2/$4 level and above.
Live poker, $1/$2 seems to play similar to 1cent/2cent online in terms of difficulty. Soooo many bad players live.
I take a lot of interest in what you are saying. I would like to do some work learning the ins and outs of poker not only the game but the mind set of the players at all levels to try to do some AI work to grind out a living online. University of Alberta has done work on an AI player in heads up. last I saw it was very good, but they couldn’t expand it to more players. I just wish I had time. MAS is my thing.
Live poker is generally easier because guys are looking to have a good time. I.e. people at a table in a casino usually aren’t going to be there grinding out money to pay the bills. They’re looking to have a good time on their rec trip to the casino. Right now if you have the time and money you can crush table games in casinos because everyone is all jacked up to play poker because the WSOP is on ESPN. So people start thinking “that looks easy” and just want to play the game.
Online low stakes is a harder game. 1 cent/2 cent is rough because you can’t get people off shitty hands. i.e. people at that level almost always want to see the flop and they’re hard to raise out of a hand. So you can have A-K and get beat more often at lower stakes because people won’t get off bad hands and hit miracle flops. They’ll play 8-3 and hit a flop of 8-3-2 and suddenly you’re up against a hand that had no business calling your pre-flop raise.

I used to play small stakes online poker alot. When you get into games were 5-6 people see the flop and most just call down to the river, you have to play more smaller suited connectors and smaller pocketpairs to try to hit big hands. In tough games you would bleed money but the return from when you do hit is greater than the cost of seeing more hands because of how many people are in the pot. In small stakes games you can have wild swings but once you get the hang of it small stakes games are very beatable despite the frustration. Read Small Stakes Holdem:Winning big with expert play by ed miller and david sklansky, if you are interested in playing small stakes games, it made me a few thousand dollars.
I have read that very recently. And I do fine playing small stakes when I do. I’m just saying, it’s a harder game than people think because it’s a DIFFERENT game.

You have to account for these things by not only treating each stake level as a different game, but learning all you can about the players and habits and there past track record. Computers are god at this.
Yeah, I bluff much less online at lower stakes than I do at higher stakes. People will generally look you up and never believe you at lower stakes. It’s quite easy to punish the fish at lower limits though becasue of this. They generally never adapt and realize you have shown down like 5 monsters in a row..
Yeah...
I will throw out a really bad bluff and show my cards rather than muck early into my time at a lower stake table even if I have to lose money to do it. From there none of the fish will trust that you ever have anything.

If you can’t beat this game, you don’t know how to adjust.

I know how to adjust...
To clarify when I said “is a harder game” I meant than live $1/$2. Live $1/$2 it’s easier to control the game. You can still crush 1 cent/2 cent, but in my opinion it’s a much easier thing to completely control a live $1/$2 game

UB, really? You know about the cheating scandal there right?
I usually play low limit omaha at pstars..
I’m awful at omaha.
The cheating scandal is really a non-issue. I don’t want to get into it but really it’s not anything to worry about.

This makes sense...
there are ad spots all over the game, it rewards fans by giving prizes…it’s a smart idea honestly

Too bad they don't have monthly Video Valut subscriptions...
those would be decent prizes. I’m about to play in a qualifier for tonight’s $500 tourney. We’ll see how that goes. They also have qualifiers for PSP tourneys and thanksgiving dinners as well as $2,500 VIP experiences.

I’d rather win a XXL UFC 44 T-shirt than have anything to do with that monstrosity known as the UFC Vault.

No worries. I’ll offer the UFC my web development services. I’d love to tear that shitty ass thing apart and rebuild it.

Will someone post that godawful image of Mike Swick at a poker table "throwing" obviously Photoshopped cards?
Just because.

It’s been running fairly smooth for me. It is ugly…but I don’t really care about anything but the cards

I can see using the UFC poker...
as a way to cool off if I’m having a bad run with real money sites and still want to play and get my head clear.

I went to sign up and it said my username and email address were taken, so I clicked around and saw that it’s with the “national league of poker” which i read about in a magazine and signed up for a few months ago.
The “royal Hold’em” was supposed to revolutionize the way poker is played.
Zen Gaming...
does NLoP, NBC’s online poker and a few others

I played
in their qualifiers to get in a tournament to win the UFC $2700 book. There were 4 players in the qualifier. I got sucked out, which is nothing new..
The site is extremely slow and kind of frustrating.
