Jeff Curran Signs With Strikeforce For Nov 7th CBS Prelims:
Former WEC contender Jeff Curran has signed with Strikeforce to compete on the undercard of the Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers event on Nov. 7 in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
Curran (29-12-1) was released after four consecutive losses with the WEC. But it's also important to note that the losses came against Urijah Faber, Mike Brown, Joseph Benavidez and Takeya Mizugaki -- arguably four of the toughest assignments for a lighterweight fighter, all in a 20-month period.

I would love to see him fight Nam in a future bout, but for this event, he probably needs a win in front of his home town. Would love to see him fight some DREAM FW’s or BW’s also.

vs. Hiroyuki "Streetfight Bancho" Takaya
Would be awesome or let him rematch KID, since Warren is busy.

I don’t think it’s out of the realm of reason to move the Hori fight.
I STILL poop rainbows.

Yeah, was thinking the same thing. They’ve done that plenty of times.

Curran desperately needs to get back on the winning track, and while Hori is no pushover, Curran is much better than his record suggests and he’d take that fight.

Who is there for him to fight?
The rankings don’t have the promotions and I’m not familiar who is affiliated with Strikeforce or even the remote possibility of Dream out there…

What weight? He was moving down to 135 in the WEC, wasn’t he?

Yup
He did move down to 135 in the WEC. Not mention on what weight yet.

Curran Signs 2 Fight Deal With Strikeforce
http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=9813&zoneid=13
"My ultimate goal is to be returning to the WEC. Strikeforce has no intentions on building the 135-pound weight division much, so it doesn’t make a good fit for me. However, being able to go from WEC to Strikeforce is great in that I can stay on big shows."
The benefits aren’t one-sided. Curran is also a bonus for Strikeforce, especially fighting in Chicago. Curran has spent much of his career promoting and fighting on events in the area, where he also resides, and is typically a strong draw in regards to ticket sales.
Following his Strikeforce appearance, Curran faces DEEP fighter Tomohiko Hori (10-7-5) at XFO 34 on Dec. 5 in Lakemoore, Ill. Hori is a training partner of Mizugaki.
"After these two fights, assuming they are wins, I will begin to see if WEC will have me back sooner than later," Curran concluded.

This is true, if anything, Strikeforce will look to build up the 145 lb weight class first before the 135, but tough to do when most of the talent is in the WEC or in Japan.

I don’t think that it befits them at this time to develop a comprehensive 135 or 145 lb weight class. Doing one off fights is cool, though.
I STILL poop rainbows.

Curran in Chicago is pretty smart.
A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.
