From the UG:
“I’m extremely disappointed in Carlo. It’s not acceptable to miss weight any time, but it’s a gigantic mistake to miss it for a title fight,” said MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich.
Your allowed 1 pound even in a title fight.
The fight shouldnt be at 155 anyway. Carlo is a big 170. He probably killed himself just trying to get close.
How is it dumb if the Commission allows it?

Thanks Carlo
To be honest I am Quite happy Prater missed weight becasue atleast now its will be a 3 round decision instead of a real boring 5 rounder. All this fight is going to be is Antonio taking Prater down over and over blanketing him until they stood back up then do the same thing over and over again for 3 rounds. It will be a classic McKee decision. Especially is Prater is not in great shape and missing weight is not a good sign ? The only chance prater has in a early Sub and I just don’t see that, Don’t even think for a second Prater could KO Mckee becasue Prater is not known for having any power at all and below average hands. Other then this fight though I am looking quite foward to this card. Nice card for a friday night.
Yep… and it’s awesome that Antonio McKee is a god damn nightmare to deal with.

Totally
His fights aren’t the most exciting, but he completely dominates his opponents, and generally receives little to know damage in return. That’s great in my book.

From Justin Trapp of Fighter Portraits:
i spoke with his manager and he said that Carlo thought he would be just fine a few hours before the weigh ins
Anybody else watching this and ready to make snarky comments?
Guy Mezger comes out strongly in favor of 12-6 elbows—good for him.

Pete Spratt--
Doing work. Giving up position.
It’s a living.
To be fair, he is as tenacious as ever, and seems to show a certain degree of improvement in the grappling department. Not enough so far though.

Spratt has utilized all his freebie rope escapes
DAMN

The big kibosh indeed
That was a textbook uppercut KO. Anybody who stumbles upon this comment later, keep an eye out for that KO because it will be on HDNet and the internet for sure.

Yeah I was worried there

He doesn’t apologize for his style and why should he? Wish he was in the UFC.

That's how I feel
I don’t agree with everything he says, because honestly sometimes what he is saying is way over the top—but I appreciate his openness. He conducts interviews like he fights—straight ahead, to the point, unstoppable (occasionally predicable).

edmonton alberta canada
whenever they do these fights up here, i can’t help but think…. goddamn edmonton looks like it’s in the middle of frickin nowhere.
It is basically
but there’s oil and good paying jobs. People will go to the middle of nowhere for a good quality of life :P.

Their standup styles don’t mesh neatly—they are both stuck figuring out the range.

Good inside action from Jimmo. Eastman caught in a pummeling loop.

Mezger agrees--I think
Did he say “pumbling?” He said it so deliberatively too.

Jimmo and Eastman have more or less counteracted each other

Gotta work on that one, ref.

Great elbows from Nickels.

Ref tells Heath to pick his hand off the mat
“It’s not supporting your weight buddy”
I don’t know if they are allowed to do that, but I think that was a spot-on bit of reffing, as he was right.

Solid round of action that

“the crowd are off their feet, literally”

Another incorrect use of the word literally

he literally has X’s nuts in his mouth?

Oof. That's a point.
Heath will have to initiate now.
"Yeah we came up short today but I'm cool with things." -- Juan Pablo Montoya
Not too shabby.
I would have liked to see Heath adjust his game-plan at some point, but he was committed to slipping punches and countering, and it wasn’t doing completely bad for him for most of the fight.

If you can't knock em out.. sub em
at least he realized he wasn’t gonna KO him and beat him pretty quickly on the ground.

Wait did I hear that right?
Did Nickels say his wife will say that he hits just as hard as Heath? Nickels beats his wife? (Not sure but I’m pretty sure that’s what I heard).

Feeling-out round
10-10 round in my estimation.

Guy Mezer unaware that 10pt must allows for even rounds
First major commentating meltdown of the night. No correction as of yet.

I could grant that a 10-10 too
This fight is anybody’s to win.

36 seconds until the first takedown
Little surprise there
"Yeah we came up short today but I'm cool with things." -- Juan Pablo Montoya
People might say this is boring--and they might even be right
But this is entirely effective. Prater is completely stymied and accumulating damage.
"Yeah we came up short today but I'm cool with things." -- Juan Pablo Montoya
Can't fault Mckee
he’s doing effective damage inside the guard.
AWmusic - mp3 blog.

To be fair
I wouldn’t fault him for taking a few risks here or there either, but he is generally so entirely effective at what he does as to make criticism difficult.

Doctor give Prater a dire warning

I wonder if the failed weight cut took a lot out of Prater?
"Yeah we came up short today but I'm cool with things." -- Juan Pablo Montoya
So do I. We may never know, unfortunately.
I’d wager that he could outwrestle and decision some of the better LWs in the UFC and abroad, but he simply hasn’t fought the kind of opposition that would allow one to state that without reservation. Everything he’s done so far indicates that he’s a very talented guy, and I sincerely hope he fights some of the better competition out there before he hangs it up.

McKee wasn't exactly the problem with that fight
Prater did more or less nothing and got dominated for his effort.
