Jorge-rivera

First, Kenny Florian and Mark Dellagrotte parted ways. Now, long-time Team Sityodtong fighter Jorge Rivera tells the New England Fights podcast that Dellagrotte will not be in his corner for his UFC 104 fight against Rob Kimmons.

Mark Dellagrote: Fighter Repellant

The picture of Dellagrote behind Jorge Rivera is fantastic for this article.

Wow, Jorge and DellaGrotte go way back.

Wonder what the story is here?

Jorge has his own shop now, so as he gets older in age, I think he’s trying to hype up his own school and make a name for himself as his fighting career winds down. It’s thinking ahead business wise. Everyone knows Sityodtong, but how many people knows Rivera MMA? Sityodtong still has Frank Mir, Marcus Davis, Jorge Gurgel, Miguel Torres, Patrck Cote, and Stephan Bonnar…I think they’ll be fine. More guys will be coming in…

Except none of the guys you mention are full-time Siyodtong fighters

Davis, Torres, and Gurgel have their own gyms, and Mir and Bonnar spend nearly their entire camps in Vegas. Cote might be the exception, but he still only spends about half his camp with Dellagrotte, with the other half spent at BTT Canada with Fabio Holanda. The others train sparingly with DellaGrotte, just to shore up their striking, but they’re not full time members of his fight-team nor do they officially represent the gym.

Rivera and Kenny were pretty much the only well-known Sityodtong fighters.
