Brock Larson vs. Brian Foster at UFC 106
Promoted from the FanPosts by Kid Nate.
MMA Weekly reports on a late addition to the UFC 106 preliminary card:
An undercard match-up between welterweights Brock Larson and Brian Foster is signed, sealed, and delivered for UFC 106, MMAWeekly.com has learned from multiple sources close to the bout.
Larson (26-3, 3-2 UFC) last fought at UFN 19 in September where he lost in a major upset to Mike Pierce, who was able to control the usually dominant Larson on the ground for three rounds, despite a lack of a significant offense. The loss was Larson's first in two years, and in recent interviews after that fight, he suggested that he would be taking some time off to allow some minor, nagging injuries to heal. However, it now appears that the competitive drive has hit the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy standout too hard, and perhaps with the recent loss fresh in his mind, he has jumped onto the UFC 106 undercard with only a month until fight night. Like fellow welterweight Josh Koscheck, Larson is proving to be one of the most active fighters in the UFC, with this fight serving as his fourth in seven months.
Brian Foster (12-4 0-1 UFC) is a HIT Squad product who made his UFC debut back in September at UFC 103. Facing a last-minute opponent swap when Ricky Story stepped in for Paul Daley, Foster still managed to put on a Fight of the Night bonus-winning performance, although it unfortunately ended in a loss when he tapped to an arm triangle from Story in the second round (which also earned Story a submission of the night bonus). Foster now looks to rebound against a very hungry and talented Brock Larson who, like Foster, will also be very eager to erase the memory of his recent loss.
Latest UFC 106 card:

Yea there is no way he will get cut if he does in fact lose this match, even if he loses this match and his next one after that i would imagine that the UFC would still give him one more shot to win.

Unless youre W Silva or Houston Alexander, you don’t lose 3 in a row and stay alive in the UFC

TUF winners too
Mac Danzig should be thanking the lord that he won that season.

Well
He won’t lose, but that’s besides the point. And you’re wrong, because he’s not some relative newcomer that would be going 1-3. He’s 8-1 in Zuffa since he returned, which includes 3-1 in the UFC.
I STILL poop rainbows.

his name is so similar to brock lesnar that maybe they can put this fight on the spike pre-ppv telecast and people won’t even know the difference ;)

If I had to pick a favorite-fight on this card I would have to say it is Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin or Tito Ortiz vs.Forrest Griffin or Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Luiz Cane or Jon Fitch vs. Ricardo Almeida or Karo Parisyan vs Dustin Hazelett or maaaaybe Amir Sadollah vs. Phil Baroni.
THough I have to admit that I kinda like the Marcus Davis vs. Ben Saunders fight too.

I'm surprised to see certain fighters fighting on the unaired prelims
I would be very surprised if there weren’t a one hour special before the PPV that had some undercard fights only because I get the impression that SpikeTV loves Amir Sadollah. I am surprised to see Marcus Davis on the undercard as well as Sadollah. The UFC is doing that thing I hate where they will get a fighter who previously fought on a main card and won (in this case, Jake Rosholt), and then put that winner on the undercard for his next fight. I just don’t feel that this is the way to build prospects, and I have seen this with Jon Jones. However, it looks like the UFC is using these free fights before the PPV to show these fighters. Escudero, and I’m sure Bader will benefit from their exposure of fighting on Spike.

All exposure is not necessarily good exposure...
I would venture to guess that in some cases a non-aired prelim may actually be a way to protect the fighter. If you lose twice on the main-card, especially if one or both of those is a snooze-fest, it puts UFC in a bad spot. If it`s an exciting fight (and especially if the right fighter wins), they can air it (or even show it for free on ufc.com), if it`s a bore or the wrong fighter wins, they bury it. If they televise the Saunders-Davis fight and it turns into a snooze-fest, it would be hard not to cut the loser, as it is, only the hard-cores will ever know about it.
People tend to whine about Okami gettin buried in pre-lims, but if you think about it, do you really think he would have been a popular contender if, for instance, the Lister-fight had been on the main card? As it is, he`s bascially undefeated and one spectacular finish away from being a fighter they can use in a title-fight. Fitch is another fighter that actually benefits from fighting on the undercard occasionally.

I understand why they bury Okami on the prelims. I actually like Okami, but I see why he is constantly on the prelims. I take issue with them burying up-and-coming prospects on the prelims like a Jake Rosholt or Jon Jones (beat Bonnar and looked spectacular and then buried on the UFC 100 prelims) especially if they won their previous fight on the main card of a PPV.

Jones got seen by a lot of people on the 100 replay, and is now headlining the finale of the most popular season of TUF ever.
In hindsight, it was good for Roshole that his fight with Miller was buried on the prelims, seeing how it turned out.
