Jay Silva vs Chris Leben for UFN 20
A middleweight bout between Jay Silva (5-1) and Chris Leben (18-7) is set to take place at "Ultimate Fight Night 20". MMA Recap (mmarecap.com) has confirmed the report with Silva. UFN 20 is set to take place on January 11 and will air live on SpikeTV.
Silva is coming off a loss to CB Dollaway at "Ultimate Fight Night: Diaz vs Guillard". While Silva lost the fight, it was Dollaway who was worse for wear. After nearly submitting Silva, Dollaway was gassed and Silva took shot after shot after shot on Dollaway dropping him three times through out the fight. Silva likes to go out there and knock your head off, and Leben is a perfect candidate for Silva.
Leben is on a two-fight losing streak after losing to Michael Bisping and most recently Jake Rosholt. Rumors have stated that Leben did not train for the Rosholt fight after a nine-month suspension. Leben is 8-5 inside the UFC and always loves to look for the knockout.
UFN 20 now looks like:
• Jay Silva vs Chris Leben
• Josh Koscheck vs Mike Pierce
• Aaron Simpson vs Tom Lawlor
• Efrain Escudero vs Nik Lentz

Yeah, Leben is one of those guys that just hasn’t evolved enough the last few years. That walking into punches while swinging for the fences thing doesn’t work so well these days..It works against the Terry Martins but when you face a skilled striker it’s going to be lights out.
I’m beginning to think that Bisping’s inability to finish Leben is a testament to how overrated Bisping really was/is (Henderson sort of ended the myth anyway). Especially considering a guy like Rosholt just dominated him.
Leben:
1 Was roided up for the Bisping fight
2 Didn’t train for the Rosholt fight
3 Wasn’t Bisping’s plan to stop Chris

my point is that as a fighter you are always trying to finish the other guy. No fighter walks into the cage with the mentality of grinding out a win by decision.

Really!? Lots of guys do, you’ve just never heard of them because they’re not that popular.

Bisping is 18-2 with only 2 decision wins. 11 of his stoppages are TKOs. Chris Leben has a notoriously tough chin, having only been KOed by Anderson Silva.
Bisping’s TKOs come when he wears his opponent down with a flurry of less powerful shots instead of big time power shots If he had gone chasing after Leben looking for a TKO when he was hurt he risked Leben coming back to life and knocking the shit out of him.
Bisping already was making big money at the time of the LEben fight, and had an established fanbase as the most popular MMA fighter in the UK. He technically outclassed Leben and walked away with the decision.

Excellent point. While I’m sure Bisping would be touched that oasis77 worries so much about his bank account, I don’t think he is that destitute just yet.
Bisping voted Britains coolest man.
