Could MMA or related sports help troubled kids?
At a local high school here in Virginia they have canceled their football season due to a fight. The first thing that I thought was "this would not have happened if they were in MMA, or an associated combat sport." I may be way off, but you may agree!
Sure, fights are going to happen. Kids will be kids, but where is the line drawn? I don't think they should have canceled the season, they should have used it as a learning experience and put them into wrestling.
When you are in combat sports you learn self discipline, confidence, and a maturity that is often missed in typical sports such as football, baseball, or basketball.
I don't know those kids from any other, but they are just kids. They need to be put into a place or sport where they will be able to learn how to act. Instead they no longer have football and may not have a positive manner to release this energy.
If their punishment was to join the wrestling teams, then they could be required to work for a purpose. Who knows, they might actually learn a thing or two.
What do you guys think? Is it just me, or could putting these children into some sort of MMA, jits, judo, or wrestling program help?

in my opinion
no it wouldnt like he^ says it depends on the instructor and the childs household i know many of my childhoods friends parents tried and failed by placing them in martial arts classes like my parents did to me theyd drop em of and leave my parents stayed watched commented and actually coached me it all leads down to this if the household isnt stable than no do not add fuel to the fire or in this case do not give a child a weapon if he has already hit some one with it
trust me
i was in taekwondo for 4 years, got my first degree belt and was never in a fight. everyday at the dojo we would start each class with tenants and an oath, every single class. i was faced with hardships when i got home ie violence and anger, i was faced with discrimination at school, i was also given the tools to seriously injure someone. still, never in a fight, never even tried to fight out side of the dojo or any karate related event.
NO you can not put kids into some sort of combat sport that has no sort of disaprine or instructor that cant communicate the positive aspects/responsibility of what they are teaching. i agree with all of the posts so far, it takes the instructor, parents, environment, maturity and all sorts of things to keep children from lashing out.
these kids in this video yelled “slam his head into the wall” this is animalistic at best and in no way represents any sort of example of anything. douchy meathead football players got to much teeneage angst, period.
ufc fan boy all the way
