The UFC, THQ and WOWOW held a joint press conference today in Tokyo to promote the Japanese broadcast of The Ultimate Fighter 9 (not 10) and release of "UFC Undisputed 2009." A couple interesting notes came out of the session, which was attended by Zuffa's top Japanese stars, as well as Tony Loiseleur, who gives us this via Twitter:

[Caol Uno] just announced he'll be fighting Fabricio Camoes at UFC 106. Welcome to the UFC, "Morango!"

Furthermore, the [Yoshihiro Akiyama - Wanderlei Silva] bout will likely happen @ UFC 110 or 111, Las Vegas, NV or Sydney, Australia, respectively.

Meanwhile, Takeya Mizugaki is still waiting for his next WEC opponent, and Yushin Okami fights Chael Sonnen at UFC 104 on October 24th. All four fighters have been training together at Akiyama's recently-opened Team Cloud Gym, which houses a full cage.

Akiyama looks like Raoul Duke from Fear and Loathing.

for all intents and purposes, just consider all my posts as works of satire.

Only Sexyama can look so good with a bright yellow T buttoned up like that.

I love me some Sexyama!

damn, mizugaki looks a lot bigger than Uno..

Wonder if Uno should move down to the WEC if he loses on 106.. that would mean that he lost 2 straight in the UFC and 4 of his last 5…

What jumped at me was

the difference between Okami and teh Sexy. Okami is looking HUGE. It’s freaky looking at the photo knowing they’re both MWs.

yeah, i really think Akiyama should drop down.. I doubt he cuts a lot to get to 185.. he should be able to make 170.

Agreed

I was thinking that immediately following the Belcher fight.

by CSKit on Oct 13, 2009 11:36 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah that’s the first thing I noticed. Akiyama looked incredibly small compared to Belcher but then again so did Dennis Kang.

Akiyama has a sweet gym, every picture I see of his Team Cloud facility makes me incredibly jealous; Akiyama has style in his gym and well, everywhere else.

Well, mark another free agent off the list. Camoes was a mystery until now.

Its hard to grab them out of Strikeforce’s grasp when he already fought for SF and they chose not to resign him for some reason.

is that a created fighter or he’s really on the roster…(My guess is that he’s included in the Japanese version of the game)

Both Uno and Akiyama were made with the create-a-fighter mode

Matter of fact, they were pretty stunned by how their digital counterparts didn’t look like them. Made for some comedy gold that afternoon, actually.

Oh, and that camera around Akiyama’s neck? He was using it to take pictures of his video game self fighting Wanderlei Silva.

Good times.

Australia!? first I’ve heard. That would be pretty cool.

Strikeforce decided they weren’t going to resign him before he fought his last fight for them, which is why he fought in the undercard. Don’t know what the reason was, but I believe it was because Camoes wanted a title shot, so he was unhappy about certain things that carried over from when he was with EliteXC.

Correction: Fought in the non-televised prelims.

Man, you’d think they’d give Wanderlei a break one of these days with the tough opponents. I strongly suspect that Akiyama will give him his 3rd straight UFC loss.

the ufc just hates okami. thtat’s the only way i can figure it. you know he won’t be aired as one of the prelims….
