Six Degrees of Kevin Randleman
You guys have all heard of the game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, right? Basically you name an actor or actress and try to connect them to Kevin Bacon in as few steps as possible. For instance, George Clooney. Clooney was in 'Ocean's 11' with Brad Pitt who was in 'Sleepers' with Kevin Bacon. Easy enough, right? So I got to thinking about an MMA version of the game, except instead of movies we'd be talking about fights. Obviously it won't be as easy in MMA with the different weight classes but I think Randleman is a good choice since he has fought at both HW and LHW. So I'll give you an example- Nate Marquardt, a middleweight. Marquardt has fought Anderson Silva who has fought Forrest Griffin who has fought Shogun Rua who has fought Randleman. How about Caol Uno, impossible right? Nope. Uno- BJ Penn- Lyoto Machida- Vernon White- Pedro Rizzo- Randleman. I'm going to throw a few other random names out there and if anyone is bored enough you can try to make the link (if there is one):
- Kimbo Slice
- Royce Gracie
- Tom Lawlor
- Don Frye
- Mayhem Miller
- Bob Sapp
And you guys are free to pick different ones if you want, I just thought this was something fun and interesting to pass some time and help us learn about the history of the sport as well. Have fun!

Nope,
Frye never fought Fedor.
You have to stick Coleman or Goodridge in there between Frye or Fedor

The key to any 6 degrees game is to focus on the following guys:
BJ Penn – fought plenty of guys at LW, WW, MW, and Machida
Anderson Silva – fought at 170, 185, 205
Jeremy Horn – fought EVERYBODY
Mark Coleman – bridges new school/old school
Uriah Faber > Jens Pulver > Mach > Anderson Silva > Forrest Griffin > Shogun > Kevin Randlemen
Damn that’s seven
Ok I'm going to cheat
Uriah Faber > Jens Pulver > BJ Penn > Lyoto Machida > Shogun > Kevin Randlemen
Brian Bowles > Miguel Torres > Mitzugaki > Jeff Curran > Mishima > Kenny Florian > BJ Penn > Lyoto Machida > Nakurama > Randlemen > Couture> BROCKLESNARRRRRR
I do this on wikipedia sometimes
I try to get from one fighter to another by only clicking on names in their records.
It’s just like any other network, there will be a few “hubs,” that lots of people are connected to. So, the goal is pretty much to get from one hub to another.
I find that BJ Penn is GREAT for this.
