Local MMA Promotion Let's Fans Vote Online-Who Fights & Who Sits At Next Event

"I work with an extremely dynamic marketing team here in Alaska and he thought that it would be a great idea to let the fans vote on who they would like to see on the fight card. We made sure that the fighters who were voted on were eligible to fight in October and went from there." Sarah Johnston of the AFC said.

"You can log on to our web site at www.alaskafighting.com. You can vote one time from each IP address and we tallied the votes and selected the fights. We have not done anything like this before and just thought it would be a great opportunity for the fans to get involved."

AFC is allowing Alaskan fight fans to vote for which fighters they want to see compete on their next card, which takes place October 14, 2009 at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, AK.

Dont the fighters get any kind of training camp for the fights?
While I think its a good idea, fighters need time to prepare for their fights.

At the local level of MMA changing of opponents is so common place due to injuries, better offers and contract disputes that unless your at or close to the best in your region the majority of local MMA fighters do not conduct a full training camp
