Bobby Lashley in Talks With Strikeforce:

"Bobby Lashley, the former WWE champion turned MMA fighter, is currently in talks with Strikeforce to compete for the San Jose-based organization"

"The MMA rookie hasn't fought since his June 27 victory over Bob Sapp on the Prize Fight Promotions "Ultimate Chaos" pay-per-view, and still has two fights left on his contract with that organization. However, talks have heated up over the last few weeks with Strikeforce about Lashley making his debut on the Nov. 7 CBS show, headlined by Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers. As of Thursday morning, though, no deal has been signed."

Look how much smaller Carwin is than Bobby and Bobby is smaller than Brock….So much for that whole Carwin is just as big as Brock argument.

I know that but the main hype behind carwin is his size and lashley weighed 255 against Sapp and is much larger than Carwin in this picture

almost the same size in terms that Brock shouldn’t be able to bully the opponent as easy as he did with the others..

Brock is still going to have 35-40 pounds on him. carwin hasn’t come into a fight at 265 and nobody is going to convince me he cuts below the limit just to have to gain that much more the next day. Brock posts his weight level and he is a legit 300+ out of training

And if you ask Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant weighed 750 lbs. at Wrestlemania 3.

Why does it always have to come back to the WWE shit? People do realize he has been training in MMA almost as long as he was a entertainer right?

35-40 lbs?

Let’s do the math here… Brock has stated that he cuts from the neighborhood of 275-280 tops, and Carwin regularly weighs in at 260ish. So that’s only 15-20 lbs, not the outlandish 35 lbs you’re claiming.

And in regards to the whole ‘300+ lbs out of training’, Carwin has said that he was around 290 before he started his camp. And to be honest, I think Brock has a little bit more fat than Carwin.

Shane is listed at 6’2; Brock is listed at 6’3. Carwin is 260ish on fight night. Lesnar is 275ish. There is no real significant difference here, this bout will be decided by who’s the better fighter. They both have great wrestling, heavy hands, and are mammoth dudes.

check his weight log…weigh ins and day after Brock has come in around 290 in all his fights except randy for obvious reasons and with a guy like carwin who is bigger id expect he would push the limit and come in as big as he could get.

Yeah I don’t know where the thinking same from with so many that Carwin is the same size as Lesnar ? I think alot of people think that becasue of Joe Rogan and how we had to hear over and over again that Carwin wore a bigger size glove then even Brock. I don’t know how many time Rogan has told us now Carwin needs size XXXXXL gloves or what ever the size is.

Its about time he steps up to the next level, I was getting sick of seeing him muddle around in the small shows fighting cans.

for all intents and purposes, just consider all my posts as works of satire.

Lashley is a n00b

and needs to be brought along slowly.
No one bitched about Carwin getting to fight 6 total cans before stepping up to a serious level of competition.

The problem is everyone wants to compare every new fighter to Brock. Daniel Cormier and Mo Lawal (and Lashley isn’t in their or Brock’s class as a wrestler) both have as much athleticism and even a superior wrestling pedigree, but they don’t have the size and strength that Brock does to overcompensate for their lack of experience and skills in other areas of the game. And even that didn’t save Brock from getting caught by Mir.
Unless Alexander Karelin finds the fountain of youth and decided to step into the octagon, Brock is a one of a kind athlete.
Now how do I explain Joe Warren…

I agree. For a fighter, any fighter, to have four professional bouts and not have faced the best in the world is absolutely absurd!

Walker vs Lashley how much you wanna bet?

that would be money

and actually makes sense for Lashley but not for Walker.

that could headline a challengers series

or be a strong main-card fight.. maybe even a co-headliner since they’re both that popular.

Ya for a Org with lack of stars or draws i think it would be a nice filler to get more eyes on some of there better yet unknown talent

It looks like Carwin could be telling Lashley in those picture that this isn’t pro-wrestling and he won’t be getting scripted fights for him like he is in TNA right now.

Oh…. no wait…. That B.S. is only reserved for Brock Lesnar.

Just BE.

Strikeforce seems like a perfect fit for Lashley at this time. They will have no problem with him continuing to work wrestling shows on the side, and he isn’t at the level (yet?) where he’s going to be paid enough to abandon that completely.

by John Nash on Oct 1, 2009 1:18 PM EDT reply actions

Great pickup for them if they get him. He has a pretty big fanbase now with TNA I believe. I caught a clip where they were pumping him up bigtime to the wrastlin folks.

Mike Goldberg: "You know Joe, When Matt and his brother Mark Hughes were growing up, they would pound each other behind the barn."

StrikeForce should get him

He’s a very good addition for them , I wonder if the UFC will try to counter-sign him or will they just wait to pick him up after StrikeForce. Anyway StrikeForce really need to get more free agents in all weightclasses

by JoelMan on Oct 1, 2009 1:31 PM EDT reply actions

?

They have been. Jacare, Mayhem, Shaolin, Fedor, Mousasi, Cormier, all within the past few months. You couldn’t sign bigger names if you tried (sans Tito).

by MMASuPreMaCy on Oct 1, 2009 2:54 PM EDT up reply actions

This would be a good signing for them, as long as they don’t say “this is not a publicity stunt” when they announce it.

I’m also interested to see if the UFC would try to match now, out of their own curiosity, or maybe just an attempt to drive up the price to f with Strikeforce.

by Phildo on Oct 1, 2009 2:42 PM EDT reply actions

Lashley works for TNA, I doubt the UFC would let that fly.

He turned down TUF i doubt he wants apart in the actual UFC

He could always stop wrestling.

I know mma agents aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer, but i don’t really think that he’s locked down tightly with TNA. At minimum he’d have an out to go to the UFC.

by Phildo on Oct 2, 2009 11:01 AM EDT up reply actions

Lashey is 6’1", 252. Carwin is 6’3", 260. At least on most fight nights. Comparable size but not really.
