BJ Penn to Georges St. Pierre: I'm Going to Try to Kill You
I will be spending all month gearing up for their rematch, as it is in my opinion going to be one of the greatest MMA fights of our generation. As for this video, it's nothing more than a promo for their 24/7-esque series scheduled to begin next Wednesday. From pre-fight talk, Penn clearly seems not more driven to succeed, but more invested in blood lust. Penn is a hero to many and certainly no heel, but he doesn't mind dabbling in waters of villainy and carnage. It's a perfect contrast to the epitome of sportsmanship that is St. Pierre's comfort zone, and it's a contrast that I suspect will help drive supreme interest in the fight.

Well, he told Sean Sherk he’d be dead, and now he’s only saying he going to try to kill St. Pierre.
My boy is losing his confidence.

Penn can definitely sell a fight.
Personally, I love the – I’m gonna lick the blood off my gloves – Penn. He’s always entertaining, especially with the squeaky voice of his. A determined Penn is a very dangerous Penn, and I definitely think this fight will be one for the ages. Win or lose, I should be very happy with the fight.

“as it is in my opinion going to be one of the greatest MMA fights of our generation”
I actually think it;s going to be a 1st round finish for one of them and a huge let down based on the hype leading up to it.
As long as it happens and it doesn’t end via freak injury a la Silva/Cote, I imagine most will be pretty satisfied.
or the crazy ending to Couture and Belfort’s fight for the title

Touche
But I don’t think that either is a notable bleeder, so we should be okay. Take that with a big, “knocks on wood”.
I think the reason I am such a BJ Penn fan is b/c he doesn’t appear to be a threat to anyone, and yet he is.

Who are you picking Luke? And if you have not made up your mind yet, who are you leaning towards at this moment?
Thanks bro.
I am undecided but leaning ever so slightly towards GSP. But just barely.
For the record, I picked with conviction GSP in the first match-up. I had a debate with Michael DiSanto of UFC.com when it happened and have the on air tapes to prove it.
I think GSP has the advantage too, but i reallyyyyyyyyyy want BJ to win..
Youre leaning towards GSP but now, who do you WANT to win?

"Try" is the operative word here.
My cat can try to kill me. That doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.
GSP by transcendence of the sport.
Although detractors decry (MMA) as a brutal, bloody form of human cockfighting, aficionados know it is a brutal, bloody, totally fucking awesome form of human cockfighting. -The Onion

Given the way GSP does in rematches, and how he’s done when his opponents talk crap about him, I’d talk less and train cardio more if I were BJ Penn.
I’m glad he clarified that he wasn’t joking about that, because I always assume they’re joking when someone comes up to me and says “I’m going to try and kill you”.
He’s a little over the top for me, but on the other hand GSP can be a tad bit boring with his whole “I’m a gentleman” bit. BJ’s becoming a tad predictable with the whole animal warrior thing too, but whatever, can’t wait for the fight, even though to me BJ has been tearing up slightly above average competition compared to GSP lately. Stylistically it’s going to be a cool fight.
The competitiveness of this fight is highly attractive,
I just hate to see one of them tarnished by a loss at this point.
Alas, this has the makings of an epic fight for the ages and I can’t pick one over the other…they both fall into my own “never bet against _” catagorie.
However, BJ’s apparent hatred of GSP (really or pre-fight hype) is making me lean toward wanting to see GSP win…a 5 round decision. A quick luckly punch win would really deflat the value of this fight.
Side note: with the size and shape of his head, does anyone else think it might be impossible for BJ to be knocked out? The thing is like a paint can on shoulders with possibly the squarest jaw ever.
Dooda: What’s wrong with being a gentleman? GSP seems to think about MMA as a sport, not as some kind of primal fight to the death. Dunno what BJ really is thinking but all this “I’m gonna kill you” crap isn’t exactly making him sound like a grown-up.
I hope GSP wins for several reasons.
One: I’m a fan of his.
Two: He’s a great ambassador to the sport (UFC could use a few of those).
Three: If BJ wins, he’ll probably defend one title per year (it’s something like eight months since the last time he fought, right?) thus holding not one but TWO divisions hostage to his “greatness”.

There’s nothing wrong with being a gentleman. It’s a tad predictable at times, but whatever. Nothing wrong with it to be sure. I’m hoping for GSP too. I’m Canadian, he seems genuine, focused, and he’s everything I love in an athlete. He’s a lot of fun to watch. As the consummate good guy, he’s great. Sometimes that’s a tad boring but whatever. No one’s perfect.
