Alistair Overeem Could be going to Affliction !!

Alistair Overeem could be going to Affliction MMA

Quote from DF:

DreamFighters.com asked management today of Alistair Overeem how talks were going with the UFC. Here is what he had to say.

We are in contact with UFC, Dream, Affliction among others, more I can not say!

So, Alistair Could be going to the UFC (Lesnar, Mir) or possibly head over to Affliction MMA (Barnett, AA, Fedor). Either way he goes, it should be very exciting to watch him try and climb to the top, as it appears he is very close to the top of his game, and is shocking everyone with his sudden rise in fight quality.

Hopefully Affliction is starting to budget a little and UFC can add Overeem to their HW stable.

He said the same thing a week ago. He’s better off in an organization that doesn’t test

Yeah I said it, for the sake of controversy.

He’s not going to fight for Affliction IMO. Not with the amount of money they are going to lose on this second show.

The only way he fights for Affliction is if he replaces someone currently booked for the January 24th show.

Can’t fight for a dead organization, y’know.

Also, curious that you only included Affliction in the title of your post, given the content of the article and your post.

Gilbert Yvel

Has passed the first stage of his approval… But you never knowwwww…..

Gimme 1 Round!

I’m still hoping it’s a ruse by Bill Douglas and co., and that when they sit down with Yvel they’ll tell him what a colossal asshole he is and deny him licensing.

i think he’s attending “the tito ortiz school for people who want to learn how to negotiate and read good too”.

by Headkick on Jan 7, 2009 3:27 PM EST reply actions

Exactly.

This quote isn’t news at all nor does it indicate anything.

by Simco on Jan 7, 2009 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

But can he do other stuff good too?
In all seriousness I hate when fighters go on about “We’re talking to X,Y and Z”. Until you sign a contract its all talk. Maybe he’s negotiating with XARM too and just can’t say.

by Sokonojudo on Jan 7, 2009 3:45 PM EST up reply actions

Alistair Overeem in XARM would be the greatest thing of all time.

Until they sign Hong Man Choi or something.

Don Frye, Gary Goodridge and Kimbo Slice would be perfect for X-ARM.

He's going UFC

II think the UFC will throw some good coin at him as he would be very useful in there European expansion plans, that coupled with the fact that he has an explosive fighting style and good look would make him a very good fit in an improving HW division.

Affliction could of signed werdum to fight barnett but instead they signed yvel why?

Per tom atencio: “because he has tatoos”

Affliction aint signing sheeet.

If they had anything left for a last stand they would save it up and try to sign tito.

Alistair aint bringing in one single extra buy.

With their model they need to sign established stars cuz ithey sure as shit cant build any…

Unfortunately I have to agree.

I think by the time Tito fights again Affliction’s MMA venture will be over, and if Alistair Overeem fights in the U.S. again why wouldn’t be in Strikeforce? He is still their heavyweight champion right?

If he was to end up in the UFC Cheick Kongo would be a good first opponent.

by tylerdurden1 on Jan 7, 2009 4:20 PM EST up reply actions

I wouldn’t be too surprised to find that Affliction closes its doors, Alastair could actually have some heavyweights to defend that Heavyweight strap against.

IF He Wants To Fight Fedor...

He could definitely go to Affliction.
I wouldn’t count Werdum out either since he mentioned they are still talking.

Uhh

He COULD die in a fire too. Doesn’t mean we should do fanposts about it.

Dude, seriously...

You already wrote a post about this, its pretty much the same content…. lets quit beating a dead horse here.

Technically, this is a different version of that story. I agree that it didn’t necessarily need to be posted or discussed again, though.
