Josh Neer WILL fight at UFC Fight Night 17
MMAJunkie has some comments from Neer's management:
Mickey Dubberly, CEO of Neer's management team at KO Dynasty, today told MMAjunkie.com that the Feb. 7 fight will go on as planned. No court date has been set for Neer and the UFC/Zuffa have refrained from commenting on the manner, but it's also interesting that the Florida Athletic Commission still has no problem with Neer fighting either. Along with any legal troubles, it will be interesting to see if the incident affects Neer's training or performance.
"Josh will be fighting Mac Danzig Feb. 7 in the co-main event in Tampa as scheduled," Dubberly stated in an email to MMAjunkie.com. "Josh has been training very hard for this fight and is looking forward to putting on a great fight for the UFC and fans. Josh would like to once again thank his family, fans, friends, training partners, UFC and everyone that has supported him through his career."
Quinton Jackson has also not seen his day in court after his "joyride", and was also allowed to return to the cage for his brutal KO of Wanderlei Silva at UFC 92 a few weeks ago.

Boooooo
This will make a Mac Danzig fan out of me.
Also, I initially read “Dubberly stated …” as “he soberly stated …” which would have been good comedy.

Let the man have one last paycheck to cover those Attorney Fee’s.

I won't be watching...
The card sounded weak anyways.

This free card is weak? Plenty of great fights and up and comers to watch.

It's hard...
for me to not plan on changing the station when his fight comes on. But as my responsibilities are to live blog it I will watch while rooting for Danzig to humiliate him and make it so that no one will give Neer a lucrative contract after he gets bounced from the UFC.

I understand everybody wants to see Neer get pounded, well deserved! But this is a great UFN card. Plenty of names on this card. I can’t wait to see Velasquez and Johnson fight, not to mention Lauzon vs. Franca should be a battle.

Didn't know Velasquez was this one... I thought his was later in the year
I’ll check his fight out…. but I’ll do what Brent can’t do and I’ll just change the channel when Neer’s fight comes on. I’ll be curious to see the numbers on how the ratings drop when that fight starts.
If I watch the Lauzon vs Franca fight… that will be interesting since Franca got popped for a DUI not too long ago but at least he had the good sense to pull over and admit his mistake.

Very unfortunate.
Did you know we are in high demand, Laura?

Guess it was too late to replace him.
I hope, win or lose, the UFC cuts him three seconds after the fight ends.

I believe I can watch the match without taking sides. While Danzig hasn’t been involved in anything like Neer, the cheap shot he took at Rampage a few weeks back was enough to cement my dislike for him.

I vote for a double-illegal-headbutt-KO gettin them both disqualified.

Eh...
talking shit is a lot different than intentionally risking the lives of countless civilians.

That’s true, but one still doesn’t have to cheer for the shit talker. I don’t know. Maybe, there’s some new law that requires you to pick between two examples of outrageous behavior, and support the less heinous one over the other. I’m not aware of it, though.
