XARM...Future Sport or Future Bust?

I seen this and thought I would share with you guys.  It is ridiculous.  Some like it and true MMA fans hate it beyond belief.

XARM, Future Sport?

I don't want to say too much about this sport.  I want you to be as shocked as I was when I watched the video for the first time.  I couldn't figure out how to add the video directly to this post or I would have.  I do not think this is the future of anything other than pure ridicule from his friends...

Saw this over at Cage Potato, apparently Art Davie is claiming that MMA has lost it’s way and this travesty of a joke sport is the future :D

Yea, I think he fell and hit his head or something.

MMA hasn’t lost its way…lol but I could make an argument that he has lost something if he thinks that is the sport of the future…

Maybe we’re just ignorant to the intricacies of XARM. Sort of like the boxing elitists who know nothing and try to judge and analyze MMA.

Nope, turns out it’s just dumb.

By what little I could stomach watching it looks like they tried to combine arm wrestling with kick boxing and left over spandex jumpsuits from American Gladiator. If you really want to watch two guys with their right hands tied together throwing left hand punches over a table then this is probably the sport you have been waiting for.

It's like a low budget recreation...

of the “Bad” video by Michael Jackson

Because they always think it's spelled with an "e" when it isn't?

Anyway, that video is ridiculous. But I’m significantly more offended by the article that was linked to in this fanpost.

The main event is Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson. Does this fight scream entertainment to you?

Que? I think the writer needs a better definition of words like “spectacle”, “entertainment” and “sport”.

I think he meant...

…the Henderson/Franklin fight is a legit match b/w real, evenly matched contenders, as opposed to a blatant attempt at pulling PPV numbers. Let’s face it, this fight doesn’t have the mass appeal of a Brock Lesnar, but for us edickated fanz, it’s a great bout.

by INGO B on Jan 4, 2009 1:47 PM EST up reply actions

I think I understand those words just fine...

…as the main even for UFC 93 will draw 1/5 of the casual fans of UFC 91 because it does not pack the same entertainment value as a Brock Lesnar fight.

XARM: Spectacle
MMA: Sport
Brock Lesnar and WWE: Entertainment

INGO B understands. Thanks INGO B. :)

I thought it was funny because he also used the word “ridicule” and he spelled that correctly.

All of you are elitists who don’t understand what people want to watch. When my grandchildren ask me where I was when XARM 1 happened, I’ll be able to tell them.

Is “beyond retarded” an option?

by lbk on Jan 4, 2009 5:01 PM EST reply actions

Wow, how is this sanctioned?

Not only is this stupid, it also looks dangerous. From just the highlight clip I saw the danger of having that idiotic table there. Is this sanctioned by an athletic commission? The only thing missing is some broken beer bottles for stabbin’. Over the Top called, it wants it’s hokey arm wrestling back.

I have an idea:

Badminton where you can punch and kick while the thingy is in the air.

if that doesnt float your bubble then how about:

Nascar where during pit stops you can get out of your car and jump into someone elses and have at it… WHILE THEY ARE DRIVING.
