Video: Pro Wrestling Moves Pulled Off in MMA
Rodriguez of Fightlinker put together the above video compilation of the best pro-wrestling moves pulled off for real in MMA.
Here's a rough list of them from a previous post he did. They don't match the video exactly.
- Chance Fararr’s Mountain Bomb on Urijah Faber
- Urijah Faber’s Schwein Redline on Chance Fararr
- Josh Barnett’s German Suplex on Yuki Kondo
- Sean Sherk’s Spinebuster on Kenny Florian
- Jamie Varner’s Death Valley Driver on Sherron Leggett
- Nate Marquardt’s Kawada Driver to Thales Leites
- Caol Uno’s Sleeperhold on Mitsuhiro Ishida
- Yoshihisa Yamamoto’s DDT to Mark Kerr
- Wes Sims’ Jacknife Powerbomb on Edwin Allseitz
- Daijiro Matsui’s Dropkick on Pele
- Houston Alexander’s Chokeslam to Thiago Silva
- Johnathan Ivey’s People’s Elbow to Joe Namath
I always loved pro-wrestling as a kid, spending countless hours on the trampoline trying to recreate thecoolest moves. Glad to see I wasn't alone. Even cooler to see some of them actually have application in MMA. Some of them are just utter duds, but one or two of the moves actually seem to work.

They used a different tune originally, but the artist didn’t want them to, so they changed it.

Spinebuster for the win!
I pulled that in slo-mo on my friend that’s fighting at 5’8 135 (I’m about 6’3 215 depending on the wind) when he was first starting. Today he’d sink in a guillotine before I could do a damn thing, but it was a blast. That clip alone makes me wants Sherk-Florian II.

Very cool video
I still can’t believe homeboy used the People’s Elbow in an actual match. Rock FTW!

if I saw a guy do that in MMA (live) I would freak out and start throwing stuff.

Dude, if I saw that in a bar fight I’d pick up the dude’s tab.

Not me...
I think it’s hillarious. I’m not one of those “no fun in MMA! this is serious business!” guys. It was dumb as shit…but it’s still pretty funny

Yeah I saw the people's elbow wrestling one come up
and I was just like WTF who’s done anything like that lolol. That shit was pretty good. I’m surprised Travis Fulton wasn’t used for the Choke slam cause his was infinately better Houstons. Also missing was the Rock Bottom performed by Joseph “Rock Bottom” Benevidez at Dream 5. And Frank Shamrock should have been in there at some point I’m sure there is a slam that looks like what he did to Igor Zinoviev.
I’m waiting for Lesner to F5 somebody.

lol
when I say “I would freak out and start throwing stuff” I mean that in a good way. It was some stupid ran MMA event between two guys we will never hear from. That was funny.

People's Elbow is
definitely the most devastating wrestling/MMA transition move ever! lol
The dude he did it on was like oh hell no, you are not about to drop a people’s elbow on me!

Yeah...
the facial expression of shock/horror is the best part of the clip. Add to that the fact that it seems to genuinely HURT him…beautiful

Giant swing to Achilles lock combo FTW. Simply one of the best finishes in history. Right up there with flying scissor sweep heel hook

incomplete
This video cannot be considered complete without Rampage’s powerbomb of Arona and Randleman’s suplex of Fedor.
Those are defining pro wrestling moves there.

Agree
The powerbomb was amazing. That Randlemen move on Fedor looked like more than just a suplex though … maybe a F-5 a la Brock Lesnar.

The guy who did the People’s Elbow is Big John Ivey, he’s a local here in Clarksville, TN. Not only is he a funny, tough fighter, he’s a pretty good coach as well. He’s trained with my boys down at Clarksville Fight Club quite a bit.
Loved the video though.
