Bloody Elbow Exclusive: Antwain Britt vs. Jamal Patterson Video Promo for UWC: Man O' War
Here is an exclusive look at the promotional video for Antwain Britt vs. Jamal Patterson, the co-main event at UWC 5: Man O' War. The headlining fight is Mike Easton vs. Chase Beebe and the UWC event will be February 21st at the George Mason Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA. Go to UWC's website for information and tickets.
Again, I am an employee of UWC so take everything I say with a grain of salt. But for anyone familiar with these two fighters, you know what an excellent match-up this is and how important the clash is for MMA in Washington, DC. Britt wants desperately to climb the ranks and Patterson, while a little older, wants to prove he belongs back in the big leagues. This fight enables the victor to earn the sort of stripes to make moves in the sport and put their name on the map.
This fight and the entire UWC event will be streamed live on Sherdog.com the day of the event, so be sure to check in no matter what part of the country (or world) you call home.
Remember, real fans support local and regional MMA.

Totally. I’ll post the info when I get it.
And spread the video around if you can.

Nice. Middle of the night for me (Sweden), but I’m gonna try and watch this all the same.

i am a “real fan” of MMA, professional football, professional basketball and professional boxing, and i still dont watch local MMA shows, high-school/college football or high school/college basketball, or local boxing promotions. i prefer to watch the best against the best. but since your an employee, i’m sure a free ticket could go along way towards changing my opinion.

Local MMA gets you just as excited, plus you can get great seats for a reasonable price. I have VIP tickets for as much as nose bleed seats at a vegas UFC. Oh, and watch the video, Luke told me to tell people that.

Luke, do you have family in Canada?
You look a lot like the lead singer of Theory of a Deadman…. its almost scary.
Nicely produced video, kinda hard to get into “regional MMA” when it isn’t in your region but I would definitely like to see that fight between Britt and Patterson. I had no clue who Patterson was and that snippet there got me interested. Other smaller promotions should look into doing stuff like this.

No family in Canada that I know of. And the reason you don’t see this sort of thing more is that its actually really expensive to do. Most local and regional shows don’t have the money to produce stuff like this.

Ahhh....
Always ends up being due to the almighty dollar. I guess the prodcuts sell themselves and if you got a quality product…. people will buy it.
Out here in Colorado they advertise the regional shows (when they advertise) like they are monster truck shows… SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!!! Do the best you can with what you got I guess.

Its a nice fight for a small show, but “future of the 205lb division” is laying it on pretty thick. Isn’t Britt the guy who lost in YAMMA?

It was a one round fight in YAMMA, so its hard to say exactly how much that means.

Best Seating location in the Patriot Center
Luke, what would you consider the best location to watch the fights from in your own opinion?

Sucks that I’ll be out of town during the event since I live in Stafford, but hopefully it’ll be up on Sherdog like last time.

luke, i dont mean to be a mega-douche, but why is it you blink so much like that? is it a reaction to the camera light or something? if its a medical thing then i apologize for my rudeness.

yup i know.
i think you kinda misunderstood what i was saying. before i watched the vid, i was like “Its like a coundown show and ofcourse he’s gonna promote the fighters.. cmon, what can luke possibly say that can prompt him to mention that more than once?”.. So i got really curious and i watched the vid, and i liked it and what you guys are doing.. but a few things kinda stuck out a bit and was too ‘hyperbol-ic’ (is there even a term like that) in my opinion.. But i think this is really good, and i think all regional shows should put out these vids too. i know it costs much, but i really think its a great idea to help help give the fighters and the promotion more exposure.. So sorry if it sounded like i was insulting it or anything, cause that wasn’t my intention.
Oh, and is there any way i can watch a replay of the fight? cause i doubt i’d be able to watch this card live..
