Fan Poll: Do You Support Local Shows
Im really curious to see how many of the readers on this site attend local shows. I find it interesting that many bars in the area I live are standing room only for UFC pay per view events while many of the local live events go by with only a few hundred in the seats. So, are you a fan of the big events or do you support the local guys as well? If you dont go to live shows, please comment and explain what keeps you from attending.

Living in Kentucky, there really is only about 1 serious show around here, and yes I support that local show. But yet there are about 5-6 small ran organizations, in which a guy from off the street with no training what so ever, will step inside of the cage, and get knocked out in 23 seconds, making this sport seem bad. I will not support the ones that are only in it for money and will not put two battle tested and trained warriors, instead grab two loons off the street and tell them to fight. I don’t like it.

I agree...
The local shows that I support are run by good promoters at good venues and the cards are created by fighters from local MMA gyms. If I wanted to see two thugs swing it out I will watch the Toughman Competition.

Yep, my blog is pretty much devoted to promoting the local scene in North Carolina…the local scene is growing crazy fast.

There are several good local shows in Denver/Colorado
Ring of Fire is the best, plus they have smaller shows under a different name that escapes me right now.
Kickdown is decent, but desperately needs a new venue.
Rocky Mountain Bad boyz
No Mercy Extreme
Fight 2 Win
and several others.
If you're not submitting, you're just rolling around with another guy.

Lots of shows in the Bay Area. I only knew of Strikeforce (San Jose) before I started training, but once I did start I found a lot of new ones because guys at my academy fought in them. Gladiator Challenge puts on a lot of shows and other ones I have attended but don’t remember the promotion – I just go because I know a guy or two fighting.
