Affliction has cheessy shiznit
Damn, you pay $45 for the fight and I can’t even see the weigh – ins? Low tech garbage with some Jerry Mullins running his damn mouth. Shut the hell up and let me see the weigh-ins. “Let’s call Dana” and post it on YouTube. Stupid!!!
what are they doing?
at this rate, I’m not sure they’ll finish on time for the show tomorrow.
this is fucking horrible, cant be that hard to get all of the fighters lined up one after another to make it look professional at least. im watching it all because im a die hard MMA fan that is interested, but what about the more casual fan that Affliction really needs to be making due allowance for, they would turn this shit off in a second.
Oh yeah. They used the same kind for the “Banned” weigh-ins.

I guess I need HDNet (pfft like my broke ass could afford it).
From the stream this looks like it’s taking place inside the world’s largest bathroom.
Baba Who?
This idiot thinks that he can scare somebody with his mean mug. He did the same shit against Chuck Liddell. Talking bout “he’s gonna look into my eyes and know I’m a different person,” then he got his ass knocked out!!! It was different alright, some damn fists instead of a leg kick. Someone slap his ass and tell him that his “scary” stare aint working. Jason Lambert kicked his ass, what, does he have a title? WEAK!!!!
And they are talking about Gegard Mousasi “it’s like Gerard but with a G”
guess he is being introduced shortly.
I hope Tim wins. He’d be a great ring card girl.

Tim Sylvia?#?!!
What the hell is his big, ugly ass doing smiling in the picture. Didn’t he get his ass wooped in 30 seconds? Get the hell off the stage, damn show boat. Always looking for the camera.
Maybe if the UFC would sign him he could be submitting and KO’ing a murderer’s row of top heavyweights.
he doesnt want to fight the best fighters…
He could be of fought more competitive fighters in affliction – even brett rogers is more competitive – you got werdum, etc…
Plus:
Barnett vs Arlovski sold less than 700 tickets… he’s not worth a quarter what he’s asking for.
Come genius
Brett rogers is tied up in Elite XC’s mess – Werdum wanted too much and Alex E couldn’t get cleared Yvel was the 4th option.
Gimme 1 Round!
Werdum wanted too much?
Is this the first documented case of Affliction not overpaying the shit out of someone other than Tito?
by Derek Suboticki on Jan 23, 2009 8:13 PM EST up reply actions
Pretty much
They are still in negotiations to eventually sign according to Werdum when last he was asked (well over a month ago)… But then again he didn’t even know he had been released from the UFC
Gimme 1 Round!
Werdum and Affliction are in good terms now.
Werdum and Mousasi on Affliction 3 is what is being talked about now.
Overeem is a possibility as well.

Rogers is and was free to take one fight,
which is exactly what yvel was signed for…
Sometimes its difficult to explain things slowly over the internets so the handicap can understand.
Where's your source that he was free to take a fight?
I saw an interview where it was stated that they went after him and then when Elite resurrected they couldn’t get him.
Gimme 1 Round!
Yeah ok I know where you're getting it.
That changed
James Iannotti (MMAmania.com): There were rumors of you facing both Brett Rogers and Aleksander Emelianenko before Yvel was officially announced. Which of the three would you fight if it were your choice?
Josh Barnett: Brett Rogers was I guess a possibility, but because of all the legal aspects of the Elite XC scenario right now, it couldn’t happen. I was fine with that. Aleksander was absolutely never a consideration. That was just some sort of propaganda that he or somebody else was trying to put out there. He can’t even be licensed in the state of California so it’s an impossibility for him to be an option for anyone at this point. And Gilbert Yvel was the only solid offer I got, you know, besides Brett, and Brett, well I guess I can’t acknowledge because he could never fight.
Gimme 1 Round!
Affliction wanted Rogers but he was caught up with some EliteXC matters. Taken straight from Atencio.

Its not very logical to use news outdated by several months. Try to keep up.
Gimme 1 Round!
I hope this wasn’t sarcasm, seeing as the UFC has 5 of the top 10 HW’s according to your own rankings. More than any other org I might add. Not to mention a decent amount of prospects.Hate to think you’d be making yourself look dumb.
Maybe if he hadn’t roided before a title fight, he’d have a little more chance. I’d like to see him back, but come on – be a big boy like Timmay and admit it, and you’ll be forgiven.
by Derek Suboticki on Jan 23, 2009 8:13 PM EST up reply actions
I realize this is being shown on HDNet but they should have at least considered that they were allowing it to be seen elsewhere like on ESPN.com and what it would look like on there.
They could have had all the weigh-ins in a row and then HDNet could have went back and broke down each individual fight and interviewed them if that is what they wanted to do. What would have been wrong with that? Because now to everyone not watching it on HDNet who hasn’t quit watching elsewhere this looks like a big unorganized cluster fuck in my opinion.

“You can actually hear them talking about how Jerry is gonna take the mic from him when Fedor comes out.”
You could hear them before when Jerry was talking to the announcer saying he’d take the mic from him, because he is a big douche and Fedors #1 fan.
lol at Jerry Millen grab the mic from the regular announcer.
And then followed by Bas calling him an asshole and realizing it was on the live feed too late.
Hahaha Love It!
Lot of people hating around here.
Conplaining about the weigh ins which are meant to be solely seen on HDNet!

yeah… this size difference is really puzzling me.
I never thought the difference was such… and it’s even more pronounced with their shirts off.
Fedor is too damn small for this weight class.
Fedor should drop to LHW.
Maybe he can be successful there.
It is just more proof that he deserves more P4P cred, being a dominant and undersized HW.
by MMASuPreMaCy on Jan 23, 2009 7:43 PM EST up reply actions
he does deserve more cred because of his size…
he just needs to now fight HW’s who are more contemporary.
He has gotten away with the size difference because he has only fought primarily one dimensional fighters.
Wait until he fights the GSP’s of the HW division then he will notice the size difference.
Are there any GSP’s of the HW division?

GSP of the HW div = Fedor

Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
He’s too small to be the GSP of the HW division. GSP is a huge WW.

GSP is no larger than the rest of the WW division. Hughes, Swick, Davis and Kos cut as much while Fitch and Alves cut more weight that GSP.
Being...
one of the 3 or 4 biggest guys in the division certainly makes him a huge guy in his division.

Fedor is the Frank Shamrock of the HW division…
He’s the first real mixed martial artist in that division.
Cain is the most probable to be the GSP of the HW division.
It’s too soon to anoint Cain or Shane, but power + awesome wrestling has = success in the past. Like, dominant, mutiple-title-defense success.

still tickets available in big sections
checked ticketmaster.com, you can still buy floor seats in bunches of 10… the night before the event. its going to be sad watching all the talent on display tomorrow night with no one in the stands.
will that many people show? from the early reports, i’d have to take a guess there’s anywhere from 3,000-6,000 (based soley on personal opinion) seats still available. 3000 they can probably cover, but if it is a number as big as 6000, there will still be plenty of empty seats, dont you think?
From what I have heard, there are closer to 10,000 tickets still available.
For the first event, Affliction purchased thousands of tickets to fill the arena.
I wonder if they will be willing to do it a second time?

Good lord was that the worst weigh in I’ve ever seen, and I watched the YAMMA weigh ins.
At least Bas called Gary/Jerry an asshole.
Interestingly enough, HDNet is pretending that WAMMA is a credible title sanctioning body, which I assume is a joke being played on WAMMA. Or maybe I just hope that’s the case.
Finally, stop perpetuating this lie that Affliction started promoting fights because ZUFFA banned their shirts. It’s the other way around. Besides, when Affliction promotions go under after tomorrow’s show, I’m sure we’ll see their shirts on several UFC fighters once again. Whether or not it’s because ZUFFA purchases Affliction remains to be seen.

C’mon man, I love HDNet and support most of the mma out there, but this was fairly bad. They should have sped it up a bit, then spent the last half of Inside MMA in the more traditional manner.
If you're not submitting, you're just rolling around with another guy.

I think my disappointment probably stems from how it could have been so much better. I watched and it wasn’t the worst thing ever, but it was clunky and didn’t flow well. With Inside MMA incorporated, I think it could have been really good.
