'Minotauro' Nogueira will not Fight Cheick Kongo
The rumored co-headliner bout between Big Nog and Kongo revealed a couple of days ago by Sherdog's Tim Leidecker was recently shot down by this news report by Joe O'Regan of Fighters Only Magazine:
Antonio ‘Minotauro’ Nogueira will not be facing Cheick Kongo at UFC 97 in Montreal, Fighters Only has learned.
Sources close to the Brazilian say he is still deciding when he will next fight, but it will not be against the French heavyweight.
This is hardly surprising because with the way he performed the last time out (Staph infection aside) and his propensity to walk into strikes, this proposed bout with a world class striker in Kongo is definitely detrimental to Nogueira's health, especially with the rumors of his eyesight failing him and other health issues mentioned in the article.
And here's hoping for him to get back on track and get 100% healthy because there are a lot of other lucrative fights on the horizon for "Minotauro."

it was the manner he lost coupled with his eyesight loss he’s experiencing. Trust me, he’s done.

If Overeem comes to the UFC, I want to see him and Kongo fight. It would be an epic battle to determine who has the best groin strikes in all of MMA. The winner gets the opportunity to showcase their skills in a rematch with CroCop.

Don’t pretend you wouldn’t pay to see it.

Good. Nog has huge balls and thus would not fare well.

He should not be dodging any contender
no matter who it is. If Nog still wants to compete for the belt then he cannot choose not face Kongo just because he is a great striker.

Thank god. I really didn’t want to see NOG get pounded by Kongo. KONGO IS A BEAST!

I just believe
if he truly wants to stay he needs to face any/all top contenders.
