Beating Doug Marshall negates a loss on one’s record.

On the UG there is a rumor about Steve Cantwell vs Luis Cane also at UFC 97. Supposedly John Morgan said it on Tagg Radio… but it hasn’t been confirmed by anyone else but the thread starter.
Great fight if true.
I dunno...
I’m a very big Cane fan but he is a slow starter and Cantwell has pop. He could (in theory) hurt Cane early. The longer it goes though the better things get for Cane.

It’s like Cane needs to get angry and turn into the Hulk. THing is, while he’s a slow starter, he doesn’t take much damage while he gets going (unlike some guys who seem to need to get punched in the mouth before they get going). Soku has strength and KO power, but against him, Cane really weathered the early storm not much worse for the wear. I think even if he has a slow start, he’ll tool Cantwell.

Wait a second, Cane is a slow starter? The fight against Soko is his only fight to ever go past 4 minutes (according to Sherdog’s incomplete records, anyway).

I think he means that he usually gets chased and lets his opponent push the action for the first couple of minutes. Doesn’t mean he’s not still a BAD man when he’s doing that – that’s how he scored his first knock down of Jason Lambert, if I remember correctly. Cane was backpeddalling, Lambert chased him, and Cane suddenly planted and BOOM.

isn't stann training with greg jackson now?
if so, i think he’ll have improved some since his last fight. couple that with krzysztof’s less than textbook striking technique, and i think stann’ll take this one.
that cantwell/cane fight is potentially exciting. hopefully they won’t bury cane on the undercard, after cancelling his fight with jardine.
and hopefully cantwell acts like less of d-bag this time around.
Hopefully Stann learned a few things since Cantwell beat him...
… cause he’s gonna need more than just boxing to get anywhere in the UFC. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt though. Should be a good fight.
This is Great!
I hope the catch here is: If Brian Stann loses he has to drop that horrible nickname. GO Krzysztof!
If Stann wins, he’ll prove he’s more than a jarhead with decent boxing.
If Cane wins, he’ll have beaten a static fighter who is overpromoted because of his military background.
Either way, I’m happy. Carry on.
