Reminder: The Jordan Breen and Luke Thomas Sherdog Radio Network Special
Sherdog.com will be running a 24 hour radiothon to help raise money for The V Foundation for cancer research starting January 16th at 3pm EST with the UFC 93 Roundtable and going until the start of the UFC 93 PPV event the next day on the 17th. I am very happy to announce that your's truly and Sherdog's mastermind Jordan Breen will be co-hosting a show from 7pm to 9pm on Friday, the 16th. For more information on the rest of the line-up, stay tuned to Sherdog.com's radio show rotations.
There's still a lot of undecided content for the two hour program, but if you're interested in hearing something - topic, interview, etc. - leave a note in the comments section.
I have no idea what to expect, but I do know it's generally quite awesome when world's collide.

Sorry, no MMA Nation this weekend. I just can’t stop getting preempted. I’ll probably be on again on the 24th. I hate it, too.

Pisses me off too. I understand preempting for Maryland basketball and football. They are huge institutions and many people seem to care, but about a month ago you weren’t on because of Virginia basketball!! What the fuck. They only sort of give a shit in Charlottesville. I lived there for two years. Your time will come.

Fair enough. I look at this response as a reason to be optimistic.

LOL, you better brush up. Breen throwing down Japanese flyweight knowledge gets rather unbelievable.

“…it’s generally quite awesome when world’s collide.”
I would generally agree that the collision of worlds is an event that could be described as quite awesome.

The only thing more awesome than that would be an MMA fight between Billy Mays and the ShamWow guy.
The universe would simply cease to exist if that happened.

I swear to god I just asked Breen to breakdown a fight between these to yesterday. He said Mays by hammerfists.

Questions/Topics for the show:
- As the possibility of viable competition to the UFC becomes less and less realistic, what is the best (realistic) way of putting fighters on a more level playing field with the UFC? Some have called for a fighter’s union; however, I know that Breen has said he finds it unlikely if possible at all. Additionally, how does MMA get to that point and is there anything that we can do as fans to achieve that goal?
- Many have talked about the UFC eventually becoming the NFL or MLB of MMA. Do you think that a combat sport can function in a similar sort of structure as those other institutions, or do the nuances of the game make that impossible?
- I heard numerous people refer to 2007 as the year of the upset. What do you think 2008 was and what do you think that 2009 will be?
- What is the biggest unanswered question for you regarding MMA?
- The best entrance music I’ve heard was when Robert Drysdale came in to “I Can’t Help Myself” by the Four Tops (though I’ll admit that it might be because I have an unhealthy love of soul music). What is the best intro music you’ve heard.
Any of these that you guys would like to cover would be greatly appreciated. Secondly, it’s awesome that you and Breen are doing a show together; I’m pretty friggin excited. Hope you have a good time with it.

![A little publicity for me today in the Washington City Paper. To wit:
But listening to Kinard, it sounds like management has decided Thomas can transcend his surroundings.
"We thought we’d experiment with some different kinds of shows last year, and of all of them, MMA Nation is the only one that lasted," Kinard says. "I wasn’t aware of anybody else doing [an MMA show]. And [in April] he outperformed our normal weekend ratings by more than double. We started out thinking this has the potential to be a nationally syndicated show, and that’s still our plan. You see MMA all over the place on TV, so why not on the radio?"
I hate to be over the top with the self-promotion, but no one is going to hand me the job and career I'm after. I want to work in MMA full time and the fact is I have to make it happen for myself. Thank you to everyone who has ever shown me an ounce of support towards the pursuit of that dream.
