UFC 100 Dream Card: Who would you put on it?
There's a rumor that Rampage vs. Sugar Rashad will headline UFC 100 in Chicago. It has generated quite a back and forth in the comments. Some people say this is a sucky headliner for such a monumentous event. Then I stumbled across this insightful comment from Rome:
This kind of highlights why fans will be disappointed. It will be a strong show with 2 or 3 main events, but they are not gonna just do a bunch of dream fights because it’s 100.
This got me thinking: Who would you put on this card? Play Dana White and try to put together the show, with the limitations he has (only signed fighters who aren't injured and are ready to go).
Who knows, maybe the UFC brass is reading and some of your suggestions will wind up rounding out the card for 100.
UPDATE: A great quote from Dana White courtesy of Discman2 in the comments:
"People ask me that all the time and we just got together to talk about it. Every card we do, this card is so stacked, and all the cards we do. I don’ t know how much more we could stack a card for 100, but we’re trying to do something to make UFC 100 special."
-Dana White

Lesnar v Carwin (or Gonzaga, if he wins), Cane/Jardine winner v Lyoto/Thiago winner for first crack at the LHW champ, and – oh yeah – Anderson Silva v GSP.

Yes if GSP beats Penn then a fight with Silva needs to happen for UFC 100. I’m a big GSP fan and I have a couple of issues with that fight, namely GSP giving up a lot of size and reach to a guy who basically would keep him at distance with his monstuous striking. But even so, I like the possibility of that fight way too much to be against it.

Not on board
Alves and GSP need to fight, and 100 would be pretty good timing, if not a bit earlier.

Totally forgot
about Alves. That’s what thoughts of superfights will do to you. Yes that would be ducking Alves for too long. I just want to see GSP and Silva square off while they’re still champions, if it’s after 100 it wounldn’t matter, but then that’s too much wishful thinking I guess.

why wouldn’t they fight each other? Wandy is moving down to 185 and with his legacy and the state of the division he is one win away from the title, or 2 depending on the time situation because of the new season of TUF. What would sell more PPVs, A Silva vs Leites or A Silva vs W Silva?

My picks ...
— Randy vs. Cro-Cop (this idea came up in another thread and I love the marchup)
— Brock vs. Fedor (OK, he’s not signed yet, but this would be a Clash of the Titans …)
— BJ vs. Anderson Silva (to make BJ the first man to hold belts in 3 weight classes simultaneously)
— Ken Shamrock vs. Royce Gracie (Throwback fight!)

lol, I didn’t read through the posts before I made mine. I put Ken/Royce as well! I think it would be good for them to “flash back” a bit.

Medical suspension in between fights would ruin it, the cost would be astronomical, and it would put a lot of their biggest stars out of action for 6 months.

Huge fan of the GP – but a lot of downside to it. I still think the UFC should have 1 GP a year though. Screw it, I would even pay more for a PPV if they put that together.

Gonna style this someone like the New Years Card… (2 champ bouts, 1 big non-champ fight, 2 good bouts)
-Rashard vs Rampage LHW Title (having the first black vs black on UFC100 would be historic IMO)
-Penn vs Florian LW Title
- Lidell vs Shogun
- Nate Diaz vs Joe Stevenson
- Marquett (sp?) vs Maia
was gonna put alves vs gsp… but can’t risk alves not making weight

So it's a 12-hour event?
Estimated cost to purchase PPV of that magnitude (salaries!): $2,500.
So it’s that or the Octagon deluxe edition.

So, if you are the UFC and decide that 100 should be some sort of celebration show, I would first move it to their home in Vegas.
Then, I think I would put a few of theor biggest names on the card, like:
Randy vs Nog
Lesner vs Mir
Anderson (he could use the big names on the card to further his popularity) vs Marquardt
Wanderlei vs Chuck
Then, I would think about bringing back a couple of legends for fights:
Ken vs Royce
Severn vs Coleman
Militech vs Renzo
or something along these lines
Possibly try to have a one time Gina vs Cyborg fight on the card.
Throw in a few high ranking TUFs for filler and there you go.
I would say at least 12 fights and a 4 hour ppv show for the same price.
Plus I would introduce Muffin the 300pound kitten, as the new UFC mascot (sorry, still stuck in the Bonaduce thread, lol). Of course I joke about this, but i am 100% serious on the type of fights I would have. a couple of title fights would be the max.

People expecting 5 super-fights are kidding themselves, I suspect it will be more along the lines of two title fights, another co-main event of two popular fighters and two even, interesting matchups of lesser name fighters. Something like (mind you I’m assuming a few results of upcoming events)

GSP vs Alves
