I am extremely extremely excited about this card.. more so than UFC 94. While the Main event for UFC 94 is bar none the best thing in a long time, seeing Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson is a dream fight come true. I think both of these fighters are even, but the wrestling advantage easily goes to Dan Henderson.
Personally all bias aside, I still want Franklin to win, because I believe if he does we can see a Dangerous Dan Henderson vs. Wanderlei Silva III. Because bar none out of all the fights that could happen in 2009, this is the one I want to see the most.
Also, this Shogun vs. Mark Coleman thing is very interesting. I wonder how Mark is going to do cutting down to 205. He is a very large man with huge power and great wrestling. But I think Shogun is probably going to destroy Coleman. Coleman has been out of the fight game for quite some time, he is 100% healed, but yet he has cage rust. That also works against Shogun Rua. Shogun has not fought since UFC 76 Jardine vs. Liddell.
PLUS Denis Kang!!!! score.

Im reallyyyyyyyyyyy excited to see the those 2 fights too, but cmon man, 94 is a more stacked card, has penn/gsp, machida/silva, jonfitch/gono, diaz/guida, etc. In my opinion, the undercard of 93 is below average at best..
Coleman will probably lose, with the age and the tough weight cut and all.. Unless we see the shogun that came to fight forrest, then we’d have a tossup i think.

i also think franklin wins this.
hendo will be stubborn and stand and bang with franklin, but franklin is more technical than him standing. So i think if that happens, we’d see hendo get beaten up slowly.

Agreed
A lot of my friends think Hendo will destroy Franklin. That’s horse shit. I agree that Hendo will try to bang with Franklin and eventually get “out-banged”.

hendo banged with Rampage for 5 rounds Wanderlei for 2 fights and Anderson for the better part of 2 rounds
Franklin banged with Silva for… Oh a cumulative 3 minutes between 2 fights. I think the standup is even though Franklin kicks and Hendo doesn’t

I'd forgotten what a meathead Mark Coleman is.
And if memory serves, Shogun’s arm broke in a scramble and freak accident, not when Coleman slammed him, as Dana suggested in the video.

Yeah..
They shown him planting his hand on the canvass while getting slammed and said it broke from that.. but then a couple of minutes after, they showed it where it actually broke – in a scramble… I think someone missed out on the editing..
Funny thing about the video though – I read some thread at the UG about Coleman’s training and someone mockingly said that he was still training hard with wrestling and lifting weights with Randleman and the Hammerhouse crew in preparation for the Shogun fight.. pointing Mark’s lack of cross-training or evolution in his MMA game. And oddly enough, what we got from this video was him lifting weights and prolly sweating from after a bout of wrestling..
Well, I’m not that excited with these bouts though I loves me some MMA, so, still.. I can’t wait.
