MMA Fiend: Jim Rome Trashes the Idea of Chuck Liddell vs Anderson Silva

Jim Rome Trashes the Idea of Chuck Liddell vs Anderson Silva

Tonight on Rome is Burning, Jim Rome said this:

"Chuck you now look like the drunken frat guy at a party who hit on the wrong guy’s girl and ended up on queer street…. There’s now speculation that Liddell will try to get his cred back by challenging Anderson Silva. Chuck, my man, if you got any sense and you don’t want to end up nose flat on the mat, you’d be wise to stay as far away from The Spider as possible."

While I agree that Anderson Silva would demolish Chuck Liddell (I think he could hold the belt if he were so inclined), Rome is being a dickhead. It looks like Joe Rogan agrees:

There's a real problem that I see in sports broadcasting where it's OK to be a fucking dick head. We don't need that shit in MMA. It's tough enough for these guys to take a loss like that, the last thing they need is some shit head like Rome rubbing it in their face.

Well said, Joe, well said. He really is a shit head.

No harm, no foul

He made an analogy about Chuck getting KTFO. So has everyone else. And he essentially picked Silva over Chuck. So would everyone else (right now). And there’s nothing well said about calling a guy a fucking dick head and a shit head (which is he?). That’s juvenile and worse than anything Rome said. Rogan’s obviously close with Chuck and is defending his pal (almost as blindly as Matt Brown). I’m honestly glad that Rome is covering MMA as often as he is and he’s as welcome to choose sides as any of us. The sport is getting more exposure, even if you think it’s at Chuck’s expense (sacred cow that he apparently is). When Rashad did the same thing to Sean Salmon there was no shortage of fried fish jokes. Chuck got plugged. Make peace with it.

I really don’t see the big deal here. Chuck Liddell isn’t above being laughed at. The analogy is insulting, but that’s the style that has made Rome so popular. It’s also accurate. Rogan is the only who looks bad in this exchange, not Rome.

Lol.

Saw this today. And I laughed.

Liddell certainly did a big no-no in boxing. He threw an uppercut and raised his chin. No bueno on the lowering of hands as you raise your chin.
