Anderson Silva on Filho Fight: "There's No Chance"
Despite recent indications to the contrary by Ed Soares, UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva reiterated his unwillingness to fight his friend and current WEC Middleweight title holder Paulo Filho to Tatame yesterday. I would never fight with Paulão. We almost train together, we’re always helping each other and (Josuel) Distak is our coach. There’s no chance to happen. People can complain, scream, whatever, but it won’t happen. Filho made a similar statement to the Brazilian site last week, which makes one wonder why Soares (who manages both fighters) would even have floated his "if the money was right..." scenario out there in the first place. Prior to that supposed revelation, it had been understood for some time that the two had no desire to battle one another. Regardless, both ex-Black House fighters have their plates full with upcoming bouts: Silva will take on Patrick Cote on October 25th in the main event of UFC 90 in Chicago, while Filho will rematch Chael Sonnen in the Hurricane Ike-postponed WEC 36 on November 5th.

Anderson will move to 205 before fighting Filho.

Most MMA fans probably don’t have too much desire to watch this fight after Filho’s last performance. It would be an interesting fight, but Silva moving up to 205 permanently is a lot more entertaining.
Still blows my mind the WEC will be on PPV next year.

I’m giving Filho the benefit of the doubt since he obviously had some personal problems to work through. Sucks WEC got pushed back two whole months, I was really looking forward to seeing how he looked in the Sonnen rematch.

I agree..
The UFC should have just gave a refund to the people that already had tickets and moved this event to The Hard Rock in Vegas. I couldn’t imagine how hard it is to be a fighter and train for months and then have it pushed back a couple more months.

Something tells me Silva clears his plate, then asks for seconds.

Filho ,probably , stomps his no-skill-at-grappling ass on any given day.Franklin just fought Hamil, his good friend. It can happen in mma.Why are these assholes so special. No fighting among the two, except, maybe for a lover’s spat.

Be easy
They aren’t assholes and there’s no reason to call them that here. Save that language for another website.

If people have the right to turn down fights against fighters like Machida or Cain Velasquez, then they should have the right to turn down fights against their sparring partners too. Remember that they’re not American and that they have a different set of principles/ideals.

If they really don’t want to fight, that’s fine with me. I’d love to see the two square off, but I don’t care to see two people that don’t want to fight each other, fight. I don’t think Filho could beat Silva anyway.
I agree that it’s odd that their manager would put this out there, Then, both fighters vehemently deny the possibility. Maybe, Soares is just testing the interest for future interest.

I meant...
testing the interest for future reference. I swear; I’m starting to write like Mike Goldberg speaks.
