Vera Interview
I’ve been a big fan of Brandon’s since training at Master Lloyd’s in Arlington. Nice booking, keep em’ coming Luke!

Questions for Luke
Brandon:
- Since it seems that Mark Dion had the evidence to prove that you were lying about that whole contract situation, and it’s obvious that calling yourself “The Truth” is a little silly, have you considered changing your name to “Brandon ‘Pants on Fire’ Vera”?
- You’re aware that those tats are kinda silly looking, right?
- -If- When Keith Jardine kicks your ass, will you consider running down to middleweight?

(Hey look, the strikethrough short code doesn’t work)

I used to be a huge Vera fan…that was when he won his first 4 straight fights at HW. Where is that Vera that used to f*** up some people. The Vera that fights today just depresses me. Is he that scared of losing?? Where is that I’m gonna whoop everyone’s ass at HW, then go down and beat up Liddell and take the LH title? Thats the Vera i am a fan of. The same one that beat Mir senseless in a minute. Please, Vera of old, come back to your old self
Hey Luke,
Not sure that I can call in (time difference from Hawaii is 6 hours!). Can you ask Vera on his thoughts about the UFC possibly going to the Philippines in future years and his thoughts on fighting there? I played “Bebot” during his last entrance and has carried the Philippines flag to the cage … he could end up getting promoted there like Bisping is in the U.K. if he keeps doing well.
Mahalo … Dave
Vera is pretty huge here.
I’ve got lots of Filipino friends here and when I told them that his last fight was terrible, even though he won, they all got offended and started defending him (even though none of them watched the fight!) saying stuff like “You’re biased against him! You just want to talk bad about our fighter!” It was all in good fun, but it was interesting to see that their passion has extended from Manny to Brandon Freaking Vera.
You can make all kinds of accusations about any group of people in this world, but one accusation you should never make of the Filipino people is that they’re apathetic towards their athletes. Holy cow.
There is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt.
Great show.
Don’t sweat the interference on the Vera call. It was still a great interview.
I think at this point its pointless to speculate about who the UFC wants to win. I think Joe Silva has earned a reputation for putting on great matches without bias and rolling with the punches regardless of the outcome.
On the flip side I think its unfair to say that all the good fights/fighters have to be in the UFC. First of all you’re undermining, or forgetting about, Sengoku and Dream, the latter of which has put on one of the best events this year in Dream 5. Secondly, even if Affliction and and EliteXC go out of business within the year, there’s just too much money out there to not expect somone else to swoop in to take their place. The UFC simply cannot keep all the good talent on their roster.
Nice to hear regular bloodyelbow posters (mma_dude) on the show.
Any chance you’ll be doing more Sunday shows? It would be great to have a post fight show. I will make the request at wjfk.

Who's the dude...
in the studio with you? is he gonna be a regular? cuz its a pretty good dynamic between you two and the back in forth must be better/easier on the voice than just you talking for the whole show.
and I’m sure dr. mayeda can also confirm, vera would be huge in Hawaii. probly not as big as in the Philippines, but still be a big draw. a show with Penn and Vera on the card would sell out any venue in Hawaii
