Thiago Silva out of UFC 89 vs Lyoto Machida
More disappointing news in the world of MMA, as Thiago Silva has also suffered a back injury that will keep him out of his highly anticipated contenders bout with Lyoto Machida, The fight was set to take place at UFC 89 on October 18th in England. Fortunately, for this particular bout, there is still time to replace Thiago with another fighter. I would argue that the replacement fighter will be a less threatening opponent, due to the short notice.
A truly disappointing development for a hotly anticipated fight.

I was texted about it, but it is apparently being reported at graciemag.com.

Nobody wants to fight Machida, anyway. It should prove difficult for the UFC to find a good caliber fighter on short notice.

Machida is just not a high-level entertainer right now.
I love watching him execute his gameplans, but the guy has shown to be literally zero threat to KO high-level opponents.
If he can learn a little bit from Rashad and work on his striking power so he can finish people late, after he’s worked them to death, it would do wonders for his career.
As it stands right now, he’s the best fighter nobody (amongst the representative fanbase) cares about. And the pity is he’s actually an incredible fighter.

Not a high level entertainer?
Lyoto Machida is among the most surgical, technical and highly proficient fighters active in all of MMA. While a lot of fans seem to find his style too “athletic”, not aggressive enough, or some version of too elusive, I would argue that watching him fight is excellent entertainment, just not of the toe to toe variety. I heartily agree with misterjonez that Machida is an incredible fighter, and I will watch him at every opportunity. The record speaks for itself: Machida has earned a match with whoever wins the Griffin/Evans bout that has been announced.

Bring back Tito for a rematch.
Seriously, does anyone want to fight Machida?

Let him fight Forrest
Let’s not forget something here. Forrest had to back out of their UFC 70 fight due to an injury. I say we finally see who would have won.
